Various embodiments are directed to a protective helmet comprising: a protective shell having a substantially dome-shaped configuration, the protective shell comprising: an outer shell surface; an inner shell surface; and at least one groove extending along at least a portion of the inner shell surface, wherein the at least one groove is embodied as a material recess within a wall thickness; wherein a ratio of the shell thickness at a first shell location adjacent the at least one groove to the groove depth of the at least one groove is at least a predetermined threshold value. In various embodiments, a protective helmet may further comprise an impact cap and/or an inner ring, one or both of which may comprise a respective groove configuration. In various embodiments, the one or more groove configurations may be configured to reduce the helmet weight of the invention by at least 15%.

Protective helmet

A protective cuff is fixed in a pant leg or sleeve of a protective garment. The protective cuff includes a fluid/particulate/water dam fixed around an interior circumference of a pant leg or sleeve of a protective garment at an attachment location that is spaced upwardly from a lowermost hem of the pant leg or sleeve. The dam includes a resilient opening to surround and snuggly engage another wearable piece of protective equipment or a wearer's limb received in the opening. A length of loose material extends from the attachment location to the resilient opening to surround the wearable piece of protective equipment or the wearer's limb received in the opening. An anti-wicking guard extends from the lowermost hem to the attachment location and surrounding the interior of the pant leg or sleeve.

A protective hood () is provided for use by a firefighter or other emergency worker, and includes a crown portion (), a head portion (), a face opening () defined by a peripheral edge (), and front and rear drapes (). At least some of the parts () are formed from a knit material and at least other of the parts () are formed from at least one layer of woven material.

A pocket such as for a garment for a worker, including a panel securable to an outer surface of the garment to define a pocket between the panel and the garment outer surface with a pocket opening defined along one side of the panel. First and second connectors on the panel and garment outer surface within the pocket may be connected together to retain an object in the pocket by pressing the panel against the garment, where the connection may be released both by pushing an object into the pocket, and by pulling a retained object from the pocket. A stiffened side of the second panel retains the second panel in a bowed configuration outwardly from the first panel at the pouch opening.

An emergency rope bail-out bag () is provided for use and wear by a firefighter or other first responder or emergency rescuer, the bag () including a main body () for stowing a rope (), an escape hook (), and a rappelling device (); and a tear-away flap () that can be grasped with a single hand of a user and pulled away from the main body () so as to expose the escape hook (), the rappelling device (), and the rope () for rapid deployment in an emergency.

An escape/ladder belt and harness assembly having an improved attachment arrangement and adjustment capabilities. The assembly features a waist belt having a coupling and fastener each featuring at least two slots separated by at least one bar. The fastener being connectable to the coupling to enable the waist belt to fasten around a user. The waist belt being removeably attached to an article worn by the user through a plurality of tabs. At least some of the tabs fastening the coupling and fastener to the article. The waist belt extending around the user and though a tension adjustment buckle so as to allow for waist tension to be set by pulling the free end of the waist belt in an intuitive forward motion that provides for improved tightening around the user.

Belt and harness assembly

An upper body harness portion for converting a seat-style harness to a full body harness. The upper body harness portion includes a front lower component, a rear lower component, and an upper torso component having elongated first, second and third webbings. The ends of the first and second webbings are detachably securable to opposite sides of the front and rear or side portions of the seat-style harness waist belt, respectively. The third webbing forms a closed loop which, when worn, extends over a wearer's shoulders on opposite sides of the wearer's head. First and second connectors are slidably connected to the third webbing, with the first connector also being slidably connected to the first webbing adjacent the front of a wearer and the second connector being slidably connected to the second webbing adjacent the back of a wearer.

A protective glove () is provided for use by a firefighter or other emergency worker. The glove () includes an outer shell (), at least one liner () located inside of the outer shell (), and a dead air space () located inside of the outer shell ().

In a protective glove for a firefighter, an emergency rescue worker, or another worker in a high-heat area, a leather face has a peripheral edge, a leather back has a peripheral edge, a leather forchette has a peripheral edge sewn to the peripheral edge of the leather face and a peripheral edge sewn to the peripheral edge of the leather back, and a heat-resistant cover made from an aramid or polybenzamidazole fabric has a peripheral edge sewn to the peripheral edge of the leather back. The heat-resistant cover covers the leather back so as to protect the leather back against direct exposure to high heat that would tend to shrink the leather back if the leather back were not protected by the heat-resistant cover.

In a protective glove, such as a protective glove for a firefighter, a thumb-covering portion has a generally uniform width except for a tip of the thumb-covering portion, and except for a wider region where the thumb-covering portion cover's at least one knuckle of a wearer's thumb, and each finger-covering portion has a generally uniform width except for a tip of that finger-covering portion, and except for a wider region where that finger-covering portion covers at least on e knuckle of an associated finger of the wearer. The wider regions facilitate flexing without binding.

Protective glove

Adjustable firefighters' suspenders are described. The suspenders, which are designed for comfort and flexibility during normal fire fighting or other rigorous activities, are constructed of high quality, durable materials with a long life-expectancy and include a back pivot point adjustment and flex straps at the ends of leather straps. The suspenders eliminate the need for waist adjustment straps or belts to aid in the support of the bunker pants.
