A valve assembly for wellbore, downhole or intervention operations, such as for subsea wellbore operations includes a rotatable valve member having a passage formed therein. The valve assembly is reconfigurable between a first configuration in which the passage is aligned or alignable with a first conduit, and a second configuration in which the passage is misaligned or misalignable with the first conduit, so as to cut or sever and/or clamp apparatus present in the valve member passage prior to reconfiguration. The assembly is configured to apply a maximum cutting force at a particular phase or stage of the reconfiguration.

Valve assembly

The invention provides a track arrangement for guiding a media carrier in a self-service terminal between a home position and one of a second and a third position. The track arrangement comprises: a first track length defining the home position of the media carrier; a second track length associated with the second position; a third track length associated with the third position; and a switch arranged to be rotatable around a central axis adjacent the convergence of the three track lengths, the switch having a portion of track extending across the switch. The second track length is positioned such that the angle between the second track length at an end adjacent to the switch, and the home position of the media carrier, is greater than 90&#xb0;. The second track length is positioned such that the angle between the third track length at an end adjacent to the switch and the home position of the media carrier is greater than 90&#xb0;.

Rotating path switch

A thickness sensor assembly () for a self-service terminal (SST) arranged to dispense media from at least one media cassette. The sensor assembly comprises a platform () and a resonant circuit () mounted on the platform () and resiliently biased towards a rest position, the sensor assembly () being arranged such that the displacement of the resonant circuit () can be detected by an SST in which the platform () is mounted. In use, the platform () is mounted in an SST adjacent to a feed path () of media being dispensed thereby such that media moving along the feed path () displaces the resonant circuit (). Such a sensor assembly () can be used to detect, for example, when two media sheets have been picked up instead of one.

Media thickness sensor assembly

An optical media detector, for use in a media transport mechanism, the detector comprising a light source and an optical sensor, is described. The light source and sensor are optically coupled via two distinct optical paths which are formed in part by a pair of optical light guides, each of which is formed into part of a pinch roller adapted to contact or being close to contacting media being transported.
