A packaging cushion is disclosed for supporting and protecting objects during shipment. The cushion has upper and lower surfaces and one or more compartments for supporting the objects in positions so that the objects are higher than the lower surfaces of the cushions. The cushions may include upper and lower nodes which increase the separation distance between the objects when the cushions are stacked one on top of another. The cushions may be held in a stack by an outer box, or by wrapping the stack of cushions in a protective film, eliminating the need for an outer box.

A method includes the steps of providing a tubing having an inner annular layer comprising a crosslinked polymeric material, and an outer annular layer comprising a non-crosslinked polymeric material, or a material that is crosslinked to a lesser extent than the material of the inner layer; longitudinally slitting the tubing to form a folded film; and reverse centerfolding the folded film to provide a folded film having a lateral slit edge, and a lateral folded edge opposite said lateral slit edge, such that the inner annular layer becomes an outer layer, and the outer annular layer becomes an inner layer. A bag can be made from the reverse centerfolded film, and an article such as food can be packaged in the bag.

Method for making and converting a centerfolded film

A method of storing a film having an active film material includes providing a carrier film and at least one strip of the active film material, positioning the at least one strip with respect to the carrier film; and rolling the at least one strip and carrier film together such that the at least one strip is isolated at least along its two major surfaces from the environment while the carrier film and the film with the active film material are in a rolled condition. The present invention also includes a roll of film including a carrier film, and at least one strip of active film material isolated from the environment.

A method of storing a film having an active film material includes providing a carrier film and at least one strip of the active film material, positioning the at least one strip with respect to the carrier film; and rolling the at least one strip and carrier film together such that the at least one strip is isolated at least along its two major surfaces from the environment while the carrier film and the film with the active film material are in a rolled condition. The present invention also includes a roll of film comprising a carrier film, and at least one strip of active film material isolated from the environment.
