A wireless communication network that implements Circular Simplex Turbo Block Coded Modulation ('CSTBCM') Forward Error Correction ('FEC'), randomization and Wavelet Packet Modulation (&#x201c;WPM&#x201d;) is provided. The network includes a transmitter that uses an adaptive tree structure. The tree structure is pruned to avoid known signal impediments by first determining the best uniform level and then tuning in the forward direction and in the reverse direction. The network also includes a receiver that implements a maximum likelihood decision directed (&#x201c;MLDD&#x201d;) synchronization scheme. The synchronization scheme is pulse shape independent and non-data aided.

System and method for orthogonally multiplexed signal transmission and reception

A method of building systematically a multi-dimensional (n, D, L) circular trellis coded modulation (CTCM) encoder with properties of optimal energy efficiency, strong tail biting and maximum minimum distance (d) of trellis paths is disclosed. In addition, a communication system for use in a power limited channel application is disclosed comprising a circular trellis coded modulation (CTCM) encoder with permuted state structure for encoding based on a circular trellis path associated with a sequence of digital information bits and a set of simplexes identified for the path from a multi-dimensional signal constellation; a transmitter coupled to said CTCM encoder for transmitting said sequence of channel symbols over said channel; a receiver for receiving a transmission from said transmitter including said sequence of channel symbols and any noise induced therein; and a CTCM decoder coupled to said receiver for decoding the received transmission without knowledge of the starting state of the circular trellis path of the CTCM encoder to recover the sequence of information bits. Apparatus and methods of encoding and decoding are also disclosed utilizing a combination of circular trellis-coded modulation with permuted state structure and simplex signal constellation techniques for use in the digital communication system.

Apparatus and method of CTCM encoding and decoding for a digital communication system

A system for releasably joining balloons and the like to form a structure, novelty, educational, or play item. The present invention comprises a modular system of inflated cells having connection members placed about each cells periphery, said cells configured to form various polyhedral shapes. The preferred embodiment of the present invention teaches the utilization of generally ellipsoidal balloons of a non-elastomeric material, such as MYLAR, each said ellipsoid forming a cell, and being configured to selectively engage neighboring balloons to form generally radial or other multi-celled structures. While the preferred embodiment of the present system contemplates the utilization of hook and loop fasteners, such as VELCRO, for joining the cells, alternative modes of releasable attachment are also contemplated such as adhesives, ties, tape, and shrink wrap. The present system in effect creates a double-walled structure (which walls may be inflated) which utilizes an attachment configuration which provides for enhanced structural integrity, as well as diversity and flexibility in terms of the alternative configured structures and items which may be fabricated utilizing the present system. An alternative embodiment of the present invention contemplates a multi-celled, releasably joined inflatable structure which may be assembled in such a manner as to form a cushion and simulate an explosive impact, upon a user falling or jumping upon same.
