A device comprising a media validation platform for identifying and detecting defects on a media disc is provided. The media validation platform may include: a media transport system including a guide portion including a cushion medium and a drive portion including a belt drive for conveying a media disc along a path of motion through the media validation platform; a slot providing an opening to the media validation platform and a guide to introduce the media disc to the media transport system; a quality control station comprising a light source, a light diffuser, and a camera for measuring an intensity of light from the light source passing through the light diffuser and a media layer of the at least one media disc; and a media identification station comprising a scanner assembly, the scanner assembly adapted to obtain data from a bar code of the at least one media disc.

Media validation platform

A system of receiving prerecorded media discs from users is disclosed. The system may include a control system having a processor capable of accessing a library associating a native bar code with the content of a prerecorded media disc and receiving the identification of a native bar code of a media disc from an optical disc identification system. The system may also include a user interface system having a buy-back activator and being adapted to receive a media disc from a user, where the user interface is capable of communicating a buy-back price to the user. An optical disc identification system may include a disc holder, a light source, a sensor capable of capturing a digital image of the hub of a media disc including a native bar code, and an image processor capable of reading the native bar code from a digital image.

System of receiving prerecorded media discs from users

A kiosk or machine for buying media discs includes a dispense/receive system for dispensing the media discs to consumers and receiving media discs from customers, a disc identification system for identifying the media discs, a disc transfer system for moving the media discs within the kiosk, a control system operably connected to dispense/receive system, the disc transfer system, and a user interface system. The user interface includes a buy-back indicator or prompt which can be selectively activated by the customer. In response to activation of the buy-back indicator, the controller activates the dispense/receive system to receive a media disc for buy-back, activates the disc transfer system to move the media disc to the disc identification system, activates the disc identification system to identify the media disc, determines a buy-back price for the media disc, and activates the user interface system to display the buy-back price.

System and method for remotely buying, renting, and/or selling media discs

An anchor rod cap and method for protecting an anchor rod bolt/nut/lower flange assembly are provided. An anchor rod is provided having upper and lower tubular elements connected by a shoulder. The upper element is disposed about the anchor rod threads and has an interior surface defined on a radius smaller than an anchor rod thread outer radius. The lower tubular element has an interior radius larger than an anchor nut outer dimension and is configured to define an air gap between the lower tubular element inner surface and an anchor nut encompassed thereby. A lower tubular element bottom edge is configured to form a physical barrier interface with the anchor rod base flange. At least one of the upper tubular element interior surface and the lower tubular element bottom edge are configured to form a sealing interface with anchor rod thread outer surfaces or an upper flange surface.

Method and structure for an anchor rod cap

A structure and method for a locking nut with a deformable member is provided. The locking nut has an elongated body relative to a comparable standard non-locking nut, allowing the nut to provide a standard length of thread for engaging bolt members while also defining a void for carrying the deformable locking member. The void has a forged side-wall structure that substantially engages the locking member within the void while shipping or handling the lock nut. The locking member deforms and flows into thread areas, thereby providing locking and vibration dampening functions, and also deforms or flows into the side-wall structures, thereby enabling the lock nut to impart sufficient frictional forces to the member to remove the deformed member from an assembly when the nut is removed. The locking forces imparted to the structure by the member may be varied and, therefore, increased by user-applied forces.

Method and structure for locking nut with deformable member

A structure and method for a locknut with a substantially rigid locking member is provided. The locking nut has an elongated body relative to a comparable standard, non-locking nut. The elongated body allows the nut to provide a standard length of thread for engaging bolt members, while also defining a void for the receipt and retention of a removable and replaceable rigid locking member. In a preferred embodiment, the member-carrying void has a forged gear-shaped side-wall structure that substantially engages the locking member within the void while shipping or handling the lock nut, and also causes the member to rotate with the nut as the nut is rotated onto a bolt member, and off of the bolt when loosened. One of either of the bolt threads and locking insert deform responsive to the compressive forces, locking the nut onto the bolt.
