The present disclosure provides compounds represented by Formula I: and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, e.g., hydrates, and prodrugs thereof, wherein X and n are as defined as set forth in the specification. The present disclosure also provides compounds of Formula I for use to treat diseases and conditions, e.g., cancer, wherein inhibition of HDAC provides a benefit.

Isoxazole hydroxamic acids as histone deacetylase 6 inhibitors

Histone deacetylases inhibitors (HDACIs) and compositions containing the same are disclosed. Methods of treating diseases and conditions wherein inhibition of HDAC provides a benefit, like a cancer, a neurodegenerative disorder, a peripheral neuropathy, a neurological disease, traumatic brain injury, stroke, hypertension, malaria, an autoimmune disease, autism, autism spectrum disorders, and inflammation, also are disclosed.

In some embodiments, there are methods for sensitizing cells to the effects of DNA damaging agents, which can have particular applications for cancer patients. In some embodiments of the invention, the RAD51 inhibitor is a small molecule that directly affects RAD51 activity, such as its ability to promote filament formation.
