An interface system for a printer and a print font chip includes an I/O port which is integral with the printer and receives from the printer address bits, data bits and control logic. A memory bus is electrically connected to the I/O port. The memory bus transmits and receives address bits, data bits and control logic from the I/O port. At least one print font chip is capable of generating address bits, data bits and control logic. Interfacing circuitry interfaces the memory bus and at least one font chip. The interfacing circuitry is bidirectional and capable of transmitting address bits, data bits and control logic between the bus and the font chip. Bus arbitration circuitry accesses the memory bus by at least one font chip. The arbitration circuitry is characterized in terms of priority. The font chips are assigned a predetermined priority by which access to the memory bus is determined.

A read post compensator circuit for a magnetic record/reproduce device comprises a transducer for reading a sequence of magnetically coded data bits from a magnetic medium and generating an electrical signal representative of the data bits, having a sequence of peak values corresponding to the data bits and having variable time intervals between successive peak values. The circuit has a peak detector to detect the peak values of the electrical signal and a time domain filter for generating output data bits corresponding to detected peak values of the electrical signal and for dynamically varying the interval between successive output data bits in direct relation to the time interval between corresponding peak values to automatically compensate for peak shifting of the electrical signal.

Read post compensator circuit for magnetic record/reproduce device

A read back circuit for recovering digital data stored on a magnetic storage medium as a series of sequential magnetic flux transitions comprises first means for providing a read signal indicative of magnetic flux transitions on the medium and second means operatively coupled to the first means for providing a differentiated read signal having zero crossings indicative of peaks in the read signal. A third means is operatively coupled to the second means for normally applying an offset to the differentiated read signal and for temporarily removing the offset during the occurrence of peaks in the read signal, thereby preventing erroneous zero crossings of the differentiated read signal.
