A passive cable adaptor for connecting a data source device with a display device is described. The adaptor has a packet-based interface connector at one end, the connector having a positive main link pin, a negative main link pin, a positive auxiliary channel pin, and a negative auxiliary channel pin. At the other end is a micro serial interface connector, wherein multimedia content is transmitted over the cable adaptor and electrical power is supplied over the cable adaptor simultaneously. The cable adaptor has an auxiliary and hot plug detect (HPD) controller utilized to map the auxiliary channel and HPD signals of the packet-based digital display to the micro serial interface ID signal.

A data transmission method and system for enhanced channel coding efficiency of a DisplayPort interface is disclosed. One method comprises transmitting a plurality of coding units for each micro-packet in each of one or more lanes of a DisplayPort Main Link from a DisplayPort transmitter, wherein each of the coding units comprises: a group of m symbol chunks, each symbol chunk including four 8-bit symbols, wherein m is 2 or 4; and an n-bit code data indicator that precedes the group of m-symbol chunks, wherein n is 2 or 4, and wherein the n-bit code data indicator indicates a content type of the m symbol chunks.

A data transmission method includes, detecting an incoming link training sequence that is transmitted from an upstream transmitter, generating a marker indicating a timing location of a word included in the incoming link training sequence, generating a self link training sequence based on a local reference clock, adjusting a time difference in the incoming link training sequence and the self link training sequence, and retransmitting an incoming bit stream based on the self link training sequence being matched to the incoming link training sequence.

A clock generator outputs a processor clock that serves as an operation reference for a processor for use in a content protection system. The clock generator includes a direct digital synthesis and a random number generator. The direct digital synthesizer includes a phase accumulator and outputs the processor clock. A DisplayPort (DP) High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) version converter that converts an HDCP content protection version from input to output includes a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver receives a serial bit stream transmitted from an upstream device, and decrypts link symbols of the received serial bit stream by use of a decryption unit. The transmitter encrypts, by use of an encryption unit, the link symbols decrypted by the receiver, and converts the encrypted link symbols into a serial bit stream and transmits the serial bit stream to a downstream device. The receiver and the transmitter have the same link configuration.

An integrated circuit package includes input interface circuitry configured to receive an audio-video data stream having a video signal and timing information and timing extraction circuitry that can identify blanking patterns for the video signal. The package includes input processing circuitry for receiving audio-video signal and converting the audio-video data stream input into a low voltage differential signal (LVDS). The package includes a timing controller having timing extraction circuitry, a set of symbol buffers, a scheduler, and timing control circuitry. All configured to implement LVDS data transfer and in some implementation enable point to point data transfer from data buffers to associated column drivers.
