A device for generating singlet oxygen is provided. The device has a sensitizer that converts triplet oxygen to single oxygen upon exposure to light. The device is configured to keep the sensitizer from contacting external fluids.

A heat transfer interface structure and a method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. A substrate has a plurality of raised features formed on at least one surface the substrate. The raised features are deformable under a compressive force and have respective openings at end portions thereof. A thickness of a raised feature at the end portion thereof is smaller than a thickness of the raised feature at an intermediate portion of the raised feature.

A device for generating singlet oxygen is provided. The device has elongated posts extending from a surface, the lateral sides of which have particles with a sensitizer that converts triplet oxygen to single oxygen upon exposure to light. An optical fiber conveys light to the sensitizer and a gas supply tube conveys oxygen to the sensitizer. The device is configured to keep the sensitizer from contacting external fluids, such as saliva.

A method for forming a superhydrophobic surface is disclosed. A surface of a first substrate is bonded to a surface of a second substrate to form a stacked material. The stacked material is peeled apart to form a fracture line and provide a superhydrophobic surface.

Methods of fabrication are disclosed including laminating an optically transparent polymer sheet with hydrophobic nanoparticles such that the nanoparticles are partially embedded and partially exposed. A method and apparatus is disclosed wherein the flow resistance of a droplet disposed on a nanostructured or microstructured surface is controlled.
