A method of manufacturing a Coriolis mass flowmeter from a polymeric material is described, in which a dynamically responsive manifold is fabricated from the same material as the flow sensor's flow-sensitive elements. The flowmeter is free of mechanical joints and adhesives. The manifold and flow-sensitive elements therefore do not slip or change their location relative one another, nor are they subject to differing degrees of thermal expansion that would otherwise undermine integrity, reliability, and/or accuracy of the boundary condition at the ends of the vibrating flow-sensitive elements.

An integrated flow meter includes a support and one or more flow sensitive member(s) integrated with the support. The support is formed by using an injection molding process that overmolds material over an outer surface of the flow sensitive member(s). The materials for the support and for the flow sensitive member(s) preferably are polymeric materials.

Integrated coriolis mass flow meters

A subassembly of a Coriolis flowmeter is fabricated from a single monolithic piece of elastic polymeric material. The subassembly includes two flow-sensitive members and a base integrally connected to the two flow-sensitive members. The two flow-sensitive members include straight sections, and are substantially similar and parallel to each other. Flow passages are drilled along the straight sections of the two flow-sensitive members, and drilled entrances are sealed using the elastic polymeric material. A temperature sensor is fixedly attached to a flow-sensitive member for measuring a temperature of the flow-sensitive member and communicating the temperature to a metering electronics. The metering electronics determines a calibrated flow rate of fluid flowing through the Coriolis flowmeter that accounts for the temperature.

A fluid flow rate and density measuring apparatus is disclosed including a section of cylindrical conduit comprising a measurement section or housing for the flow sensor. The flow sensor housing is fixedly attached to a conduit at its distal ends allowing fluid to pass through the open ends of the sensor housing as fluid flows through the conduit. An elongated, streamlined, cylindrically symmetric structure is located within the housing with its longitudinal axis aligned along that of the housing thereby forcing fluid through the annular gap between the exterior of the elongated cylindrical structure and the interior wall of the sensor housing.

Apparatus and method for measuring mass flow rate of fluid materials including a rotationally oscillating probe attached to a support at one of its ends and adapted for extension into a flow stream. The fluid flowing thereabout interacts with the probe to produce an oscillatory Magnus lift force that is distributed along the portion of the probe exposed to the fluid stream and is directed substantially perpendicular to both the direction of fluid flow and to the rotational axis of the probe. The amplitude of the rotational oscillation is related to the fluid's mass flow rate and is determined using motion-responsive sensors. Electronic circuitry and processor means convert electrical signals generated by the sensors to develop an output signal proportional to mass flow rate. The probe assembly can be implemented in various forms including &ldquo;concentric tuning fork&rdquo;, &ldquo;linear rotational tuning fork&rdquo; and &ldquo;parallel rotational tuning fork&rdquo; arrangements. In alternative embodiments, additional sensing means integral to the probe assembly allow determination of the fluid's flow velocity (based on vortex shedding), fluid density, and fluid viscosity.

Method and apparatus using magnus effect to measure mass flow rate

A water purification system which filters particulates from the water and treats organic contaminats with ozone. The incoming contaminated water flow is divided, with half passing through each of two filter and ozone contact systems. Initially, each stream is passed though a sand separation device to remove large high density particulate mater, then through a multi-stage filter arrangement incorporating disposable filter cartridges. Ozone is injected into each stream leaving the filter system. The flow passes through elongated plug-flow tubing to assure optimum water/ozone contact, then enters a multi-compartment secondary contactor having a series of perforated baffle plates through which the water flows to assure complete ozone/water contact. Finally, each stream passes through a final filter stage, then the streams are combined and pass to storage or a purified water outlet. If desired, the entire flow can be passed through the combined ozone injection system, a selected filtration system and the water/ozone gas contact system.
