An improved zero draft cylindrical noise attenuator for electrostatographic printers made of structural foam and having a cylindrical sidewall thicker than 4 mm throughout at least most of its circumference and a gap along the length of its long dimension. The improved attenuator more effectively dampens vibration and is less costly to make.

An improved process for injection molding of components having zero draft sides comprising: making a mold having a zero draft cavity and an end-cap to seal the mold; injecting suitable resin material into the mold; foaming the resin material; separating the end-cap section from the cavity section of the mold; and removing the part from the mold. In particular, the zero draft process is intended for manufacture of an improved zero draft cylindrical noise attenuator for electrostatographic printers, said attenuator having a cylindrical sidewall thicker than 4 mm throughout at least most of its circumference; and a gap along the length of its long dimension.

A method for making a developer roll sleeve in which a core substrate roll is spray coated with a conductive composition including a host resin composition and a wear-resistance imparting additive. Preferably, the host resin composition includes a phenolic thermosetting resin and a conductivity additive such as a carbon black, graphite and the like. Further, the wear resistance imparting additive is preferably selected from the group consisting of a polytetrafluoroethylene resin (e.g., Teflon), graphite, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene having a molecular weight from about 3,000 to about 4,500 grams, molybedenum disulfide, silicone and mixtures thereof. The wear resistance imparting additive is preferably provided in an amount sufficient to obtain a thickness wear rate of less than about 0.00047 percent per printing cycle.

Method of making enhanced phenolic developer roll sleeves

A method for manufacturing a magnetic roll for use in an electrophotographic printing machine of the type having an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member is provided. The method includes the steps of placing a shaft in a mold cavity and molding a core in the mold cavity with the shaft in the cavity. The core defines a pocket on the periphery of the core. The method further includes the step of attaching a magnet to the pocket.

A non-leaking and easily remanufactured toner cartridge is provided and includes a cartridge housing defining a first housing portion having a sump for storing toner, and a second housing portion containing development components. The first housing portion and the second housing portion each have mateable rims. The non-leaking and easily remanufactured toner cartridge also includes an externally identifiable ultrasonically meltable adhesive layer interleaved between the mateable rims of the first housing portion and the second housing portion, and an ultrasonic weld, formed by ultrasonically welding only the ultrasonically meltable adhesive layer, for bonding the mateable rims of the first housing portion and the second housing portion, thereby resulting in a non-leaking and easily remanufactured toner cartridge.

A developer roll sleeve and method for making the same is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a core substrate roll is spray coated with a conductive composition including a host resin composition and a wear-resistance imparting additive. The charging roller includes a shaft, a foam material surrounding at least a portion of the shaft, and a thermoplastic material. An improved document scanning system is realized by using low mass mirrors as optical components. The mirrors consist of a pair of metal structures in honeycomb form sandwiched between a pair of glass skins. The mirrors have a greatly improved stiffness-to-mass ratio compared to conventional mirrors and provide relatively low mass in scan drive components, as well as improved system performance.
