A combination run capacitor/positive temperature coefficient resistor/overload (CAP/PTCR/OL) module is described. The cover of the combination housing includes a capacitor compartment and terminal openings for receiving blade terminals of a run capacitor. The terminal openings in the cover align with blade receiving receptacles coupled to the PTCR start circuit. The blade terminals of a run capacitor are inserted into the receptacle openings and into electrical engagement with the blade receiving receptacles. The capacitor is supported and protected by a potting mixture filling the capacitor compartment.

Method and apparatus for combining PTCR/OL and run capacitor

A positive temperature coefficient of resistance resistor/overload (PTCR/OL) resistor assembly that can be quickly and easily electrically connected and disconnected from equipment without the need for special tools or equipment. In some arrangements of the present invention, a locking tab on the electrical connector can be secured against an angle on the PTCR/OL to prevent the electrical connection from being broken during shipping or operation equipment movement or vibration. When it is necessary to electrically disconnect the PTCR/OL from the equipment, the locking tab can be disengaged from the angle on the PTCR/OL by bending the tab until it releases from against the angle, and the electrical plug can then be disconnected from the PTCR/OL. The improved assembly provides increased isolation of incoming electrical wires with less material than previous devices. The improved assembly also provides for an easy method of using different terminals in the PTCR/OL, so that a variety of isolated electrical connectors can be utilized with the PTCR/OL with minimal modifications or changes.

Quick-connect positive temperature coefficient of resistance resistor/overload assembly and method

A method for retaining a terminal of a terminal assembly for a positive temperature coefficient resistor/overload resistor (PCTR/OL) assembly includes providing a body having an inner surface, and disposing at least one retaining member to the inner surface. The retaining member is configured to engage the terminal substantially perpendicular to an axis of symmetry of the terminal.

Positive temperature coefficient resistor/overload resistor method and assemblies

A motor start switch includes a temperature responsive resistor element and a cutout switch electrically connected in series with a start winding of an electric motor. The cutout switch is in thermal contact with the temperature responsive resistor element so that heat from the temperature responsive resistor element is transferred to a bimetal element in the cutout switch, causing the bimetal element to open the switch. Heat from a motor overload protector provides heat to maintain the bimetal element in an open position. As heat to operate the temperature responsive resistor element is obtained from existing circuit elements, the efficiency rating of the motor is unaffected.

Cutout start switch heating

A motor start switch includes a temperature responsive resistor element and a bimetal cutout switch electrically connected in series with a start winding of an electric motor. The cutout switch is operable between an open position disconnecting the temperature responsive resistor from the start winding, and a closed position electrically connecting the temperature responsive resistor to the start winding. The cutout switch transitions from the open position to the closed position due to current flowing through, and heating, a bimetal element in the cutout switch.

A thermistor including a pill assembly, a connector body, and an adhesive sealant. The pill assembly includes a thermistor pill and a conductive lead operably attached thereto. The conductive lead extends through the connector body. The adhesive sealant bonds with both the connector body and the conductive lead proximate to where the conductive lead extends through the connector body.

A control system for regulating electrical power input to an article cleaning apparatus employing electrically actuated loads means to provide multiple processing modes of operation, including clothes washing, dishwashing and clothes drying type apparatus, uses multiple piezoceramic relay means enabling connection of the power source to each load. The electrical power is applied to the individual load with an individual piezoceramic bender member responsive to control signals and with the control circuitry being directly and ohmically connected to the power source. In one embodiment, the piezoceramic bender members are actuated with control circuitry employing user selection circuits and function control circuits which are operatively associated with power switching circuits to enable automatic operation of the particular apparatus. The piezoelectric relay comprises one or more piezoelectric bender members each connected to a spring which serves as a power conductor to the movable contact. Circuitry causes each bender member to aid each spring in pulling the movable contact away from a stationary contact upon relay opening for reliability. A method of operating the controlled apparatus in such manner and an apparatus having such controls are also disclosed.

An electric transducer has a casing with a plurality of walls defining a pair of chambers, and one of the walls interposed between the chambers defines a diaphragm for deflection in response to fluid pressure in one of the chambers. A strain gauge disposed on the one wall in the other of the chambers spans the diaphragm for conjoint deflection therewith to establish an output voltage correlative with the diaphragm deflection, and an electronic amplifier in the other chamber is connected in circuit relation with the strain gauge for amplifying the output voltage.

Electronic transducer

A method of assembling an electronic transducer having a dielectric casing member, a strain gauge, a metallic casing member including at least one wall in part defining an integral flexible diaphragm, and an electronic device including a plurality of solid state components. In this method, the strain gauge is bonded to the at least one wall spanning across the diaphragm so as to be at least in part conjointly flexible with the diaphragm. The electronic device is disposed in superposed spaced apart relation and in circuit relation with the strain gauge, and the strain gauge and the electronic device are enclosed between the dielectric casing member and the metallic casing member.
