In a wireless telecommunication system, Home Location Register logic generates a subscriber roaming profile for use by a Visitor Location Register by retrieving a subscriber's provisioned profile, retrieving a rule set associated with the subscriber, and applying the rule set to the set of provisioned service features indicated in the provisioned profile to generate a modified profile. The rules can be responsive to one or more of: the identity of the visited network, subscriber preferences, and provisioned features. The rules can be in the form of tables stored in the Home Location Register.

Providing for data exchange between mobility management and location management components over a signaling network to facilitate establishment of end-to-end mobile communication is disclosed herein. Components can include an access control component that receives identification information associated with a target mobile device, and a lookup component associated with the mobile device that can provide routing information via a signaling network to the access control component. Such routing information can be sufficient to locate a second access control component serving the target device to assist in establishing end-to-end communication between the target device and an originating device. By such systems and methods, the claimed subject matter can increase scalability and capacity of finite core network resources engaged in facilitating mobile communication.

To route calls in a wireless network in which an NPA split has been implemented, an intelligent router mediates NPA mismatches by modifying requests for routing information according to a rule set based on the update status of the HLR or other network element to which the routing requests are directed. According to whether the intended network element has been updated to recognize a new NPA in the directory number, the appropriate version of the directory number is included in the routing request, regardless of whether the old or the new version of the directory was actually dialed. In some embodiments, the intelligent router first modifies the routing request to include the new version of the directory number, and upon receiving an error from the intended element, resends the request with the old version. Receiving an error may prompt the intelligent router to trigger an update of the intended element.

A cellular telephone system provides coverage during cluster testing in which a new mobile switching center (MSC) that is to replace an old MSC is cut into the cellular telephone system for testing. A trunk group is built between the old MSC and the MSC. In addition, a signaling link is built between the old MSC and the new MSC. The new MSC is also assigned a unique point code to differentiate the new MSC from the old MSC during testing. In addition, the new MSC is provided with a new range of temporary local dialing numbers (TLDNs) for use during cluster testing.
