An absorbent pad is provided for use in a receptacle intended to contain and display food products which tend to exude juices or liquids. The absorbent pad comprises a mat of liquid absorbent material, an upper liquid impermeable plastic sheet overlying the absorbent mat, and a bottom plastic sheet underlying the absorbent mat. At least one of the sheets is perforated, and spacer means is disposed between the two sheets to maintain their separation under a compressive load, and such that the ability of the pad to absorb liquids is unimpaired when the pad is subjected to a compressive load resulting from the food product resting thereon or the like. Preferably only the bottom sheet is perforated, and when a food product is positioned upon the upper sheet of the absorbent pad, any exuded liquids will flow around the pad and enter the mat by capillary action through the perforated openings of the bottom sheet, and the liquids will be held out of contact with the food product to thereby minimize contamination of the product and maintain its appearance and improve its shelf-life.

Receptacle for moisture exuding food products

A method of welding which utilizes a metal electrode core encased within a pre-sintered ceramic insulating sleeve. The method comprising, preplacing a welding wire in the welding kerf formed between the pieces to be welded, tacking the welding wire in place such that the wire abuts the surface of the pieces to be welded, guiding the metal core electrode rod encased in a ceramic pre-sintered sleeve over the welding wire, and simultaneously, torching the welding wire so that a uniform weld deposit is formed.

Method of welding using a covered tungsten electrode

A receptacle is provided for containing and displaying food products which tend to exude juices or liquids, and which comprises a supporting member, such as a tray or bag, and an absorbent pad associated therewith. The absorbent pad comprises a mat of liquid absorbent material, an upper liquid impermeable plastic sheet overlying the absorbent mat, and a bottom plastic sheet underlying the absorbent mat. At least one of the sheets is perforated, and spacer means is disposed between the two sheets to maintain their separation under a compressive load, and such that the ability of the pad to absorb liquids is unimpaired when the pad is subjected to a compressive load resulting from the food product resting thereon or the like. Preferably only the bottom sheet is perforated, and when a food product is positioned upon the upper sheet of the absorbent pad, any exuded liquids will flow around the pad and enter the mat by capillary action through the perforated openings of the bottom sheet, and the liquids will be held out of contact with the food product to thereby minimize contamination of the product and maintain its appearance and improve its shelf-life.

Receptacle for moisture-exuding food products

The disclosure relates to rotary machinery, including a wear ring seal member stationarily mounted in a holding member which extends generally coaxially about a rotatable cylindrical member in substantially sealing relationship with the surface of the rotatable member, the rotatable member being made of carbon steel. The improvement resides in providing the surface of the rotatable carbon steel member in sealing relationship with the ring seal with a fused alloy coating metallurgically bonded thereto, the coating being formed of a heat and corrosion resistant welding alloy composition containing about 10% to 30% by weight chromium and the balance at least about 60% nickel, such that the carbon steel member is protected against oxidation and ignition due to overheating.
