Various embodiments include integrated approaches to detecting attempts to breach system-level or chip-level security using photo-generated currents induced by lasers or other radiation sources. Various embodiments integrate photo-detection circuits with a secure processor or other circuit in such a manner that the response to a security attack is fast enough to prevent loss of secure or private information are described. Various embodiments include circuits capable of providing a permanent record of photocurrent detection.

Detection of laser-based security attacks

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to voltage-based current sensing. In accordance with one aspect, voltage-based current sensing may include performing a coarse calibration of a voltage based current sensor to determine a coarse offset; performing a fine calibration of the voltage based current sensor to determine a fine offset; performing a frequency calibration of the voltage based current sensor to determine a frequency offset; and performing a transfer function calibration of the voltage based current sensor to determine a sensor transfer function using one or more of the coarse offset, the fine offset and the frequency offset; and measuring a load current using the sensor transfer function.

Some aspects pertain to an inductor apparatus that includes a first metal layer including a plurality of first interconnects, a second metal including a plurality of second interconnects, a first dielectric layer between the first metal layer and the second metal layer, and an inductor. The inductor includes a plurality of vias, where the plurality of vias are configured to couple the plurality of first interconnects to the plurality of second interconnects. The inductor includes a plurality of inductor loops formed by the plurality of vias, the plurality of first interconnects and the plurality of second interconnects. The inductor further includes a first magnetic layer and a second magnetic layer, located between the first interconnects and the second interconnects; and a third magnetic layer and an optional fourth magnetic layer outside of the plurality of inductor loops.

Inductor apparatus and method of fabricating

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for controlling the states of a light modulator used in displays. A display apparatus includes pixel circuits coupled to the light modulators. Each pixel circuit can include an output node, a data capacitor, a charge transistor for charging the output node and a discharge transistor for selectively conducting a current between the output node and an update interconnect providing an update voltage. The display apparatus can include a controller for testing the pixel circuits to determine two or more update voltage levels, each update voltage level causing the discharge transistor to conduct current. The controller also can be configured to determine a logical high voltage level to be stored in the data capacitor based on the plurality of update voltage levels.

Display apparatus including self-tuning circuits for controlling light modulators

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for enhancing display viewability in high ambient conditions without excessive increase in power consumption. In one aspect, a controller associated with the display device can be configured to obtain an indication of ambient light conditions from an ambient light sensor or from a host device hosting the display device. Upon receiving an image frame, the controller can derive a set of color subfields and determine a bit-depth value for each color subfield based on the obtained indication of current ambient light conditions and mapping data which maps ranges of ambient light to respective bit-depth values on a color subfield by color subfield basis. The controller can then generate a number of subframes for each color subfield based on the respective determined bit-depth value and cause the generated subframes to be displayed.

Apparatus and method for adaptive image rendering based on ambient light levels

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for a display apparatus including dummy display elements that can be switched between being coupled to a test bus and a drive bus. When connected to the drive bus, the circuit components, including thin-film transistors, of the dummy display element experience exposure to typical operating signals. When connected to the test bus, the display apparatus can test the operating parameters of the dummy display element circuit components.

The voltage margins are determined based on responses to test voltages which cause the devices to change states. State changes of the devices are detected by monitoring integrated current or charge used to drive the devices with the test voltages.

Measurement and apparatus for electrical measurement of electrical drive parameters for a MEMS based display

A method of driving electromechanical devices such as interferometric modulators includes applying a voltage along a common line to release the electromechanical devices along the common line, followed by applying an address voltage along the common line to actuate selected electromechanical devices along the common line based on voltages applied along segment lines. Hold voltages may be applied along common lines between applications of release and address voltages, and the segment voltages may be selected to be sufficiently small that the segment voltages will not affect the state of the electromechanical devices along other common lines not being written to.

Low voltage driver scheme for interferometric modulators

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for writing a display image to a display having an array of pixels according to a selected driving sequence. In one aspect, display elements in a row are driven using a tall and narrow voltage pulse. This allows display elements of a row to be driven in a shorter line time.

Drive scheme for a display

Displays, and methods of displaying images with the displays, which have quantized display characteristics for each of the pixels are disclosed.
