A drag reducing composition for use in hydrocarbon streams which contains a finely divided, solid polyolefin friction reducing agent, a suspending medium comprised of water and a liquid organic carrier containing from 10 to 14 carbon atoms and having at least one hydroxyl group and a partitioning agent comprising a compound having a hydrophobic group and a hydrophilic group and exhibiting at least some surface activity.

Drag reducing compositions and methods of manufacture and use

A polymerization reactor for creating drag-reducing polymer having a reservoir and at least one heat exchanger plate in fluid communication with a coolant source, wherein each heat exchanger plate may be disposed on a lid. The heat exchanger plates are treated and/or covered to provide that the exchanger plates can be readily disengaged from the drag-reducing polymer. The polymerization reactors of the present invention permit large amounts of polymer to be formed in each reactor batch. Preferably, polymers are formed in the polymerization reactor by bulk polymerization. Methods for forming drag-reducing polymers are also disclosed.

Bulk polymerization reactors for producing drag reducer

The present invention relates to a drag reducing agent, composition, compound, product, process and method of use for use in petroleum pipelines and the like. A preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a cryogenically-ground polyalphaolefin polymer at 15-25 wt. % of the commercial product formulation. The bulking agents comprise ethylene bis-stearamide alone or in combination with other polyethylene and/or polypropylene polymers at 2.0-5.0 wt. % of the commercial product formulation. In addition, diisobutyl ketone 20-60 wt. % of the commercial product formulation and propylene carbonate 2.8-8.4 wt. % of the commercial product formulation are used.

Drag reducing agent and method of use

A composition including a polyalphaolefin and at least one alfol alcohol that function as drag reducing agent slurries and a process for the preparation of the drag reducing agent slurries are disclosed. The process includes contacting alpha olefin monomers with a catalyst in a reactant mixture to form a polyalphaolefin. The polyalphaolefin is combined with at least one alfol alcohol to form a drag reducing agent slurry. A process for reducing drag in a conduit is also disclosed.

A composition including an alcohol absorbed polyalphaolefin that functions as a drag reducing agent and a process for the preparation of the drag reducing agent are disclosed. The process includes the steps of contacting alpha olefin monomers with at least one catalyst in a reactant mixture to form a polyalphaolefin. The polyalphaolefin is then contacted with at least one water insoluble alcohol for a period of time to provide an alcohol absorbed polyalphaolefin that is used as an improved drag reducing agent. Processes for reducing drag in a conduit are also disclosed.

Alcohol absorbed polyalphaolefin drag reducing agents

A composition including a polyalphaolefin and at least one alpha olefin monomer partitioning agent that function as drag reducing agents and a process for the preparation of the drag reducing agents are disclosed. The process includes the steps of contacting alpha olefin monomers with at least one catalyst in a reactant mixture to form a polyalphaolefin. The reactant mixture may include at least one alpha olefin partitioning agent or the at least one alpha olefin partitioning agent may be mixed with the polyalphaolefin after polymerization. The alpha olefin monomer partitioning agents are alpha olefin monomers that are solid at ambient temperatures. Preferably, the alpha olefin monomers are selected from the group consisting of C -C alpha olefin monomers. A process for reducing drag in a conduit is also disclosed.

Alpha olefin monomer partitioning agents for drag reducing agents and methods of forming drag reducing agents using alpha olefin monomer partitioning agents

The present invention is directed to improved drag reducing agents and methods of forming improved drag reducing agents comprising the steps of isomerizing olefin monomers to form isomerized olefin monomers, polymerizing the isomerized olefin monomers in the presence of at least one catalyst to form a polyolefin drag reducing agent having unexpectedly superior drag reduction properties when combined with liquid hydrocarbons, such as viscous crude oil. Therefore, the drag reducing agents of the present invention may be introduced into conduits, such as pipelines, to increase the flow of the hydrocarbons through the conduit.
