A dispensing device and the method of making same for dispensing medicaments to a patient that includes a housing, a first assembly connected to the first end of the housing that includes a body portion, and a penetrating sub-assembly. The first assembly also includes a rate control chip of novel construction that is connected to the penetrating sub-assembly and functions to control the rate of flow of medicinal fluid to the patient. Disposed within the housing is a second assembly that includes a shuttle, a collapsible container carried by the shuttle and a plurality of variable force springs that function to thrust the collapsible container into penetrating engagement with the penetrating member of the penetrating assembly and then to collapse the collapsible container to deliver the medicinal fluid to the patient. Connected to the second end of the housing is a novel third assembly that includes an operating member that is threadably connected to the shuttle. The operating member functions to controllably move the shuttle forwardly of the housing. The apparatus also includes a novel locking mechanism that releasably locks the operating member against rotation relative to the shuttle.

Apparatus for dispensing medicinal fluids and method of making same

A dispensing device for dispensing pain management medicaments to a patient comprises first and second threadably interconnectable sub-assemblies. The first of these sub-assemblies houses a fluid reservoir defining component while the second comprises a fluid delivery and control assembly that includes a novel flow control means that functions to control the flow of medicinal fluid from the fluid reservoir of the first sub-assembly toward the patient via strategically formed flow control passageways.

A dispensing device for dispensing pain management medicaments to a patient comprising first and second threadably interconnectable sub-assemblies. The first of these sub-assemblies houses a novel collapsible fluid reservoir defining component while the second comprises a fluid delivery and control assembly that includes a novel flow control means that functions to control the flow of medicinal fluid from the fluid reservoir of the collapsible reservoir defining component toward the patient via a plurality of fluid flow control passageways.

A dual reservoir fluid dispensing apparatus for use in controllably dispensing fluid medicaments, such as antibiotics, analgesics and like medicinal agents from either or both of the device reservoirs. The fluid dispensing apparatus includes novel fill means for selectively filling each of the reservoirs with the same or different medicaments that are to be dispensed to the patient. Stored energy sources are provided in the form of a pair of constant force spring members of novel design that provide the force necessary to continuously and substantially uniformly expel fluid from the reservoirs. The apparatus also includes novel adjustable flow rate assemblies that are disposed intermediate the outlet port of the fluid reservoirs and the outlet port of the device for precisely controlling the rate of fluid flow from the outlet port toward the patient.

Fluid delivery and mixing apparatus with flow rate control

A compact fluid dispenser for use in controllably dispensing fluid medicaments, such as antibiotics, analgesics, and the like medicinal agents from the reservoir of the device. Uniquely, the dispenser includes a novel bellows-type reservoir and vial fill means for filling the bellows-type reservoir with the medicament to be dispensed. The dispenser also includes a novel stored energy source in the form of a constant force spring which controllably urges the medicinal fluid from the device reservoir. Additionally, the apparatus of the invention includes a novel adjustable flow rate control assembly that is disposed intermediate the fluid reservoir outlet and the outlet port of the device for precisely controlling the rate of fluid flow from the outlet port toward the patient. The rate control assembly includes a rate selector member for selecting the desired rate of fluid flow toward the patient and a cooperatively associated flow control plate having a plurality of fluidic micro-channels which controls the rate of fluid flow toward the selector member. The rate control plate uniquely includes a priming feature for priming the various fluid passageways of the device and purging the fluid passageways of gases that may be contained therein prior to the delivery of the medicinal fluids to the administration line of the device.

Fluid delivery apparatus with vial fill

A distal rate control device, which can be conveniently interposed between a fluid supply line and fluid delivery line for precisely controlling the rate of fluid flow toward the delivery line. The device includes a readily adjustable flow rate control device having a novel flow control plate that can be placed in fluid communication with the fluid supply line and with the fluid delivery line. The flow control plate is provided with a plurality of elongated fluidic flow control channels that are in communication with a rate selector member that is rotatably carried by the device housing. Rotation of the rate selector member places a selected one of the flow control channels in communication with the fluid delivery line.

Distal rate control device

A compact fluid dispenser for use in controllably dispensing fluid medicaments, such as antibiotics, oncolytics, hormones, steroids, blood clotting agents, analgesics, and like medicinal agents from a plurality of prefilled containers at a uniform rate. The dispenser uniquely includes a plurality of stored energy source that are provided in the form of compressible-expandable members of novel construction that provide the force necessary to continuously and uniformly expel fluid from a plurality of device reservoirs. The apparatus further includes a plurality of fluid flow control assemblies that precisely control the flow of the medicament solutions from the plurality of device reservoirs to the patient.

Multichannel fluid delivery device

A fluid delivery device having a self-contained stored energy membrane for expelling fluids at a precisely controlled rate, which is of a compact, laminate construction. The device is of very low profile so that it can conveniently be used for the precise delivery of a small volume of pharmaceutical fluids, such as insulin, morphine and the like, into an ambulatory patient at precisely controlled rates over extended periods of time. The device includes strategically configured, multiple fluid chambers to achieve the maximum possible average percent of extension of the membrane and thereby assure adequate fluid delivery pressure.

Multiple canopy

A laser alignment system includes a probe head assembly mounted for linear articulation in mutually perpendicular X, Y and Z axes, with respect to a reference plane. In a four axis version of the system, a laser probe is further mounted for rotation about a V axis relate to the reference plane. Adjustment means are provided to ensure that a laser beam emitted by the probe is perpendicular to the V axis and intersects the V axis. In a five axis version of the system, the laser probe is further rotatable about a W axis perpendicular to the reference plane. This version further incorporates a means to translate the laser beam so that the beam, when perpendicular to the reference plane, coincides with the W axis.
