A syringe for use with a powered injector to inject a fluid into a patient that includes a length of material adapted to transmit or propagate electromagnetic energy therethrough. The length of material includes at least a first indicator positioned along the length of material. The first indicator is adapted to interact with at least a portion of the energy being propagated through the length of material in a manner that is detectable. The presence (or absence) of the first indicator provides or corresponds to information about the syringe configuration. The indicator(s) of the present invention can, for example, provide information about syringe configuration by the number and/or position thereof. A plurality or set of such syringes can be provided, with the configuration of each such syringe being represented by the presence or absence of indicator(s) of that syringe.

Encoding and sensing of syringe information

An integrated radiopharmaceutical patient treatment system is disclosed including a patient support platform with an associated patient stimulus apparatus, an imager proximate the patient support platform, a radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system for infusing a radiopharmaceutical fluid into a patient, a patient monitor to be associated with a patient, and an integrated system controller operably associated with the patient stimulus apparatus, imager, radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system, and patient monitor to control and coordinate their operations. Within the patient treatment system the radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system may be included comprising a radionuclide supply module, a radiopharmaceutical processing module, a quality control module, a patient injection module, and a controller. A hazardous fluid handling system including a docking station and a hazardous fluid transport device adapted to detachably dock with the docking station is further disclosed.

Methods and systems for integrated radiopharmaceutical generation, preparation, transportation and administration

A system for delivering to a patient a slurry which includes a fluid and a material that is non-dissolvable or immiscible in the fluid. The system includes a container adapted to contain the slurry and a supernate of the slurry, a syringe adapted to contain the slurry after dilation with the supermate, a fluid path between the syringe and the contents of the container, the fluid path including a needle at least partially disposed within the contents of the container, a plunger disposed in the syringe and adapted to create pressure in the syringe to cause a dilated slurry to flow into the syringe through the fluid path, and a fluidizing systen associated with the container and comprising a holder adapted to move the needle within the container to affect dilation of the slurry with a portion of the supernate.

Systems and methods of delivering a dilated slurry to a patient

A fluid path set including a multi-patient use section adapted for connection with a pump device and a source of injection fluid, and a per-patient use section adapted for removable fluid communication with the multi-patient use section. The per-patient use section includes a pressure isolation mechanism having a first port adapted for connection to the pump device via the multi-patient use section, a second port adapted for connection to a patient, and a pressure isolation port adapted for connection to a source of medical fluid via the multi-patient use section. The per-patient use section includes a valve member biased to a normally open position permitting fluid communication between the first port, the second port, and the pressure isolation port, and movable to a closed position to close the pressure isolation port when fluid pressure reaches a predetermined pressure level sufficient to overcome a biasing force applied to the valve member.

A catheter including an outer conduit and an inner conduit positioned within the outer conduit, the inner conduit having a smaller diameter that that of the outer conduit. A volume between the outer conduit and the inner conduit define a first lumen which may deliver a first fluid to a patient, and an inside diameter of the inner conduit defines a second lumen which may deliver a second fluid to the patient such that the fluid flow of the first fluid and the second fluid exiting the catheter has a flow profile where the first fluid surrounds the second fluid and the second fluid is prevented from contact with inner walls of a blood vessel of the patient in a vicinity of a tip of the catheter.

Fluid delivery systems, devices, and methods for delivery of hazardous fluids

A system which includes a pressurizing mechanism to pressurize a fluid including a contrast enhancement agent for delivery to a patient and a control system in operative connection with the pressurizing mechanism. The control system includes a system to adjust control of fluid injection based upon a measurement of renal function of the patient.

A hazardous fluid handling system which includes a housing having a radiation shielded internal chamber disposed therein which may accommodate a container holding a radioactive fluid, one or more radioactivity detectors positioned within the shielded internal chamber in operational proximity to the radioactive fluid in the container, and a dosimeter control device electronically coupled to the radioactivity detector(s) is disclosed. The dosimeter control device is operational for determining information regarding the radioactive fluid in the container based on individual measurements received from the one or more radioactivity detectors. The hazardous fluid handling system may be integrated into a patient support platform which includes a patient stimulus apparatus, an imager proximate the patient support platform, a radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system for infusing a radiopharmaceutical fluid into a patient, a patient monitor to be associated with the patient, and an integrated system controller.

Systems for integrated radiopharmaceutical generation, preparation, transportation and administration

An apparatus for the detection of extravasation of an injection fluid infused into a tissue during an imaging procedure is disclosed. The apparatus includes at least a first source of energy to supply an X-ray or gamma ray imaging energy to tissue in the vicinity of a site and at least a first sensor to measure an energy signal resulting from the energy supplied to the tissue by the first imaging energy source, and circuitry configured to compare the energy signal detected by the first sensor to a baseline measurement and provide an alert that extravasation is occurring.

Apparatus and method for detecting fluid extravasation

A system for delivering fluid to a patient includes a hazardous material enclosure suitable for holding a first container comprising a first fluid, and a pump device capable of pumping the first fluid from the first container and a second fluid from a second container. The hazardous materials enclosure has a cap which includes a flexible sealing member that cooperates with the first container to create a biohazard seal during connection of the first container to the cap. The system further includes a mixing device associated with the pump for mixing the first and second fluids for delivering the fluid mixture to the patient.

A delivery apparatus useful for infusing a therapeutic agent into a body lumen, the apparatus including a lumenal body defining at least one infusion port for infusing the therapeutic agent into the body lumen, and a sensing element which is distal of the at least one infusion port and adapted to sense the amount of infused therapeutic agent or any compound derived therefrom in the body lumen. Another embodiment of the apparatus includes a lumenal body defining at least one infusion port for infusing the therapeutic agent into the body lumen, and a filtration element which is distal of the at least one infusion port and adapted to deliver a reaction agent which may react with the therapeutic agent in the body lumen. A sensing element may be provided distal of the filtration element for sensing the amount of infused therapeutic agent or compounds derived therefrom in the body lumen.

The manual control includes at least one actuator for controlling the injector through application of force by an operator. An injection system for use in angiography includes a source of saline, a pump in fluid connection with the source of saline to pressurized the saline, a source of contrast, a contrast valve in fluid connection with the source of contrast, a powered injector in fluid connection with the contrast valve, and a pressure isolation mechanism.

A method and device for the simultaneous or sequential introduction of multiple fluids into the bloodstream including a multiple lumen catheter with corresponding multiple hole sets. By introducing a second fluid such as saline, the concentration and bolus of a first fluid, such as a contrast agent, can be controlled and optimized.

An assembly for connection to a system for injecting a patient is disclosed. The assembly includes an enclosure, a compartment incorporated into the enclosure, a connector, and an output. The compartment is adapted to accept a pharmaceutical container. At least one sealing member is adapted to reversibly seal the compartment. The connector is adapted to establish a fluid connection with a pharmaceutical container in the compartment. The outlet is in fluid connection with the first connector and adapted to connect to the injector.

A system for delivering a cell-slurry to a patient may include a fluid, cells that are non-dissolvable or immiscible in the fluid, thereby forming the cell-slurry, a syringe adapted to contain the cell-slurry and a supernate of the cell-slurry, the syringe defining a first end having an outlet through which the cell-slurry is delivered to the patient, a fluidizing system associated with the syringe and adapted to effect dilation of the cell-slurry with a portion of the supernate, to form a dilated cell-slurry, the dilated cell-slurry being transferred from the fluidizing system to the syringe, while maintaining at least a portion of the supernate, the cell-slurry and supernate being transferred from the fluidizing system to the syringe, a pressurizing mechanism adapted to create a pressure to cause the dilated cell-slurry contained within the syringe to flow for delivery to the patient and a control unit in communication with and adapted to control the fluidizing system, the pressurizing mechanism and movement of the dilated cell-slurry.
