A system and method for assessing the functionality of a visual system of the eye using a digital micro-mirror device (DMD) to generate a coded pattern which is illuminated by a light source. Optics project an image of the coded pattern onto the retina of the eye. Sensors detect electrical signals based on the response of the visual system to the image. One or more processors control the DMD and correlate the electrical response from the sensor with the coded DMD pattern to assess the functionality of the visual system.

System and method for assessing retinal functionality

A method and apparatus for imaging the choroid is described. A plurality of choroidal images is captured. The plurality of images is aggregated to generate a single aggregated image with good contrast. Prior to any aggregation, the images may be aligned to remove any displacement caused by saccadic motion between one frame and another, and any images degraded by a blink of the patient can be identified and discarded.

Method and apparatus for imaging the choroid

A method and apparatus for imaging the choroid. The method comprises indirectly illuminating the choroid of an eye using incident light having a wavelength spectrum in the near-infrared region; and collecting the light passing out through the choroid and the pupil of the eye using an image sensor to obtain an image of the choroid.

A method for performing registration of multispectral retinal images. Corresponding cross-over points and bifurcation points of blood vessel in an eye are identified in a fixed image and in an offset image. The relative displacement of each point, between the images, is calculated. Based on these relative displacements, the offset of each pixel in the offset image is interpolated and the offset image is transformed into a corrected (distorted) image. Such an image can be used to assess the health of the eye. Further, a fixed image and a offset image of an eye are divided in a tile pattern. The relative displacement of each tile of the offset image with respect to the corresponding tile in the fixed image is calculated. An offset for each tile is calculated and the offset image is corrected as a function of those offsets.

Registration method for multispectral retinal images

A method and apparatus for quantitative imaging of the retinal fundus. The method for retinal health assessment comprises imaging the retinal fundus of a patient's eye at different wavelengths within a spectral range and determining spectral reflectivity of the retina for each pixel within a field of view (FOV). The retinal health is assessed based on the spectral reflectivity of the retina. The metabolic and anatomical activity of the eye is monitored to detect, at the earliest stage, activity that could lead to the onset of blinding eye diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts, etc.

Retinal fundus surveillance method and apparatus

A method for quantifying disease progression through retinal health assessment and management. The method comprises obtaining a first image of a retina or iris at a point in time; generating a first vascular map of the first image of the retina or the iris; obtaining a second image of the retina or the iris at a later point in time; generating a second vascular map of the second image of the retina or the iris; registering the first image and the second image on the basis of the first vascular map and the second vascular map; and displaying at least one difference between the registered first image and the second image to quantify a disease progression.

Method and system for retinal health management

An improved computer network security system and a personal identifier device used for controlling network with real time authentication of both a person's identity and presence at a computer workstation is provided. A new user is registered to a portable personal digital identifier device and, within the portable personal digital identifier device, an input biometric of the user is received and a master template is derived therefrom and securely maintained in storage. A private key and public key encryption system is utilized to authenticate a user registered to the portable personal digital identifier device. The personal digital identifier device verifies the origin of a digitally signed challenge message from the network security manager component. A digitally and biometrically signed challenge response message is produced and transmitted by the personal digital identifier device in response to the verified challenge message.
