A downhole motor for drilling a borehole includes a stator assembly including a helical-shaped stator, a rotor assembly rotatably disposed in the stator assembly, wherein the rotor assembly includes a helical-shaped rotor, and a sensor package received in the rotor assembly, wherein the sensor package includes a first pressure sensor, a second pressure sensor, and a plurality of accelerometers.

Sensor equipped downhole motor assembly and method

Some embodiments include a sensor assembly comprising a sensor to be carried by a movable component movably positionable about a tool body of a downhole tool. The sensor is to take wellsite measurements and the downhole tool is positionable in a wellbore. The sensor assembly further includes electronics positionable in the movable component. The electronics are to electrically connect to the sensor to receive the wellsite measurements from the sensor, and the wellsite measurements are usable to determine wellsite parameters.

Wellsite sensor assembly and method of using same

Temperature sensing devices and methods for determining downhole fluid temperature at a drill string in a borehole while drilling are disclosed. The device includes a temperature sensor capable of detecting and measuring rapid temperature changes and may be used to sense the temperature of fluid inside or outside the drill string. In addition, the device includes a thermal conductor that receives and secures the temperature sensor; the thermal conductor is in turn received and secured in a thermal insulator that provides a thermal barrier. In an embodiment, the device is disposed in a channel within an outer diameter of the drill string such that the device is protected from the side wall of the borehole and drilling fluid and cuttings can pass through the channel without becoming packed around the temperature sensor.

Downhole temperature sensing of the fluid flow in and around a drill string tool

A sensor assembly for a downhole tool including a tool body and a movable component movably positionable about the tool body is disclosed. The sensor assembly may include a wear sensor and/or a position sensor. The wear sensor may include a core with conductors at various depths to send a signal, whereby, upon wear of the core, a change in the signal at the depth of the wear is detectable. The position sensor may be carried by the movable component, and may be used with references comprising magnets distributed about the tool body. The position sensor includes magnets having polarity responsive to polarity of the references whereby a position of the movable component is determined. The sensor assembly may also include a chassis housing electronics coupled to the position sensor and/or the wear sensor.

A sensor assembly for sensing downhole parameters is provided. The sensor assembly is positionable in a downhole tool deployable into a subterranean formation to form a wellbore. The sensor assembly includes a carrier positionable in the downhole tool, at least one set of three accelerometers, and at least one set of three magnetometers. The carrier includes at least one set of three receptacles. The three receptacles are positioned radially about a periphery of the carrier at equal distances thereabout. The set of three accelerometers are correspondingly positionable in the at least one set of three receptacles, and the set of three magnetometers are correspondingly positionable in the at least one set of three receptacles. The set of three magnetometers includes two physical magnetometers and one virtual magnetometer. The virtual magnetometer is produced from the two physical magnetometers.

Downhole sensor assembly and method of using same

A device for communicating with a downhole measurement tool includes a processor module comprising a set of commands and configured to issue a command from the set to the downhole tool and receive a corresponding reply from the downhole tool. The set of commands includes at least one of a command to switch the downhole measurement tool between a sleep mode and an active mode and a command to download data from the downhole measurement tool. The device includes a transceiver module coupled to the processor module and an antenna coupled to the transceiver module. The antenna and transceiver module are configured to transmit commands and replies between the processor module and the downhole measurement tool.
