The invention relates to a brake compensator for a hydraulic braking circuit comprising a master cylinder (10) with two working chambers respectively connected to a subcircuit (I, II), the compensator being arranged in a subcircuit (I) comprising a first piston (22) carrying a valve mechanism (24) arranged in a communication between a working chamber of the master cylinder (10) and at least one rear wheel (16) in such a way that, in the rest position, this communication is open, and a second piston (42) subjected to the pressure prevailing in the other subcircuit (II) so as to lock the first piston (22) in the rest position in the event of the absence of a substantial pressure in the other subcircuit (II). According to the invention, a ball (32) is arranged at rest on the path of the first piston (22) in order to prevent it substantially from sliding, and a displacement of the second piston (42) under the effect of a sufficient pressure prevailing in the other subcircuit (II) removes the ball at least partially from the path.

Brake compensator for a motor vehicle

A brake assembly with hydraulic boosting, comprises at least one disk brake having a fixed part (1), a caliper (3), a brake motor (82) actuated by a fluid under pressure, a master cylinder (48) and a device (15) for recovering the energy dissipated during braking. The device (15) comprises at least one energy-recovering cylinder (21) with its piston (19) which is associated with the fixed part (1) and with the caliper (3) and the working chamber of which is connected fluidly to the brake motor (82). A hydraulic booster/limiter is connected between the energy-recovering cylinder (15) and the brake motor (82), the hydraulic booster/limiter being controlled by the pressure of the fluid generated in the master cylinder (48).

The present invention relates to a disc brake for a motor vehicle, comprising an inner (12) and an outer (14) disc, fastened one to the other and with a fixed spacing (D), an outer pair and an inner pair of friction elements for coming into frictional engagement with the opposite faces of the two discs, and support (16) and control (42, 42') members intended for laying the friction elements against their respective disc, the brake comprising a supporting yoke (16) extending both on the inside of the inner disc (12), in the gap (D) between the two discs, and on the outside of the outer disc (14), an inner caliper, interacting with the inner pair (40i, 40e) of friction elements, and an outer caliper, interacting with the outer pair (40'i, 40'e) of friction elements, the two calipers (42, 42') being mounted slidably in the supporting yoke (16). The inner caliper (42) comprises a body (44) in the form of an upturned U, the base (46) of which straddles the inner disc (12) and has an outer wing (48) descending into the gap (D) between the two disc (12, 14) and coming into contact with fraction element (40e) and an inner wing descending on the inner side of the inner disc (12), forming a cylinder (52), receiving a piston (54) in contact with friction element (40i). The outer caliper (42') comprises a body (44') in the form of an upturned U, the base (46') of which straddles the two discs (12, 14) and has an outer wing (48') descending on the outside of the outer disc (14) and comes into contact with friction elements (40'e) and an inner wing (50') descending on the inside of the inner disc (12), forming a cylinder (52') receiving a piston (54'), and the caliper (42') having a spacer (74) in the form of an upturned U, the base (26) of which straddles the inner disc (12) in a radial gap (I) separating the periphery of the inner disc (12) and the base (46') of the caliper and having an inner wing descending on the inner side of the inner disc (12) in order to come into contact with the piston (54'), and a outer wing descending in the gap (D) between the two discs in order to come into contact with friction element (40'i).

A braking corrector governed by the height of a vehicle, comprises a body (10), in which is slideably mounted at least one piston controlled by an actuating rod (12) and arranged so as to interact with at least one valve element, in order to control at least one brake-fluid passage between at least one inlet (14,16) and at least one outlet (18,20) of the corrector. The corrector possesses a sensor detecting the height of the vehicle and formed from a lever (32), the pivot (34) of which is stationary relative to the body (10) of the corrector and one end (36) of which is connected to an unsuspended part of the vehicle, the distance between this end (36) and the pivot (34) defining a first lever arm, and the lever (32), which actuates the actuating rod (12) at a distance from the pivot (34), defining a second lever arm. The corrector possesses a mechanism (40,46,48,54) for varying the ratio between the lengths of the first and second lever arms.

The friction member (4a) is actuated, via a piston mechanism (5), by an assembly consisting of a wedge (12) and of rollers (14), put into operation as a result of the rotation of a control shaft (11) driven by an electric motor (8) under the supervision of a force or pressure sensor (23) associated with one of the surfaces of ramps (16) interacting with the rollers (14).

The brake pad (10) comprises a lining (8), a lining support (11) and a spring (15) fastened at (17) to the support (11) near one edge of the support. The two free ends of this spring are shaped so that each forms a mechanism for attachment (23, 24, 25; 23', 24', 25') of the pads. These two free ends grip two adjacent bearing surfaces formed on the caliper of the disc brake equipped with this pad. The invention is used for the preassembly of pads in a disc brake incorporated in the stub axle of the vehicle wheel.

The stop member (23), which forms a bearing surface (33) cooperating in abutment with an abutting member (22) carried by the actuating rod (13) of the booster so as to determine the operational dead travel of the booster, has a deformable structure (30) capable of yielding elastically when a pulling force (F) exerted axially by the abutting member (22) on the stop member exceeds a predetermined value. The deformable structure advantageously consists of at least one arm (30) integral with a mounting sleeve (28), fixed by crimping (37) onto the rear central duct (9) of the rear shell (2) of the booster housing. The abutting member (22) is secured, in a given position, to the coupling fork (15) of the actuating rod (13).

The return spring (33) of the actuating rod bears upon a collar (30) which is mounted so as to slide on the rod (21) and which incorporates, on the opposite side from the return spring (33), first (34) and second (35) bearing surfaces intended to cooperate, respectively, with an abutment (39) formed on the rod and a fixed abutment (43) advantageously formed by the end, which is folded back, of a tubular abutment component (40) which is firmly fixed to the casing (1).

The tubular part (9) of the hub (7) of the piston assembly (5), which encloses the distribution valve (8), supports an assembly (200) consisting of a guiding ring (21) and a seal (20) cooperating with the internal wall of a tubular part (22) mounted, for example crimped, inside a central duct (23) of the rear shell (2) of the servomotor housing (1) and having a first end part (26) extending so as to project axially into the rear working chamber (4) of the servomotor. Advantageously, the tubular part (22) has a second end part (37) forming a stop (36) for a limit member (31) associated with input rod (12) and forming a bearing for the return spring (30) of the input rod (12).

The invention concerns a pad and torque support assembly for a disc brake. The pad incorporates a first pair of twin surfaces (54) formed on the torque support (10) and a second pair of surfaces for anchoring and for sliding (56) radially offset from the first pair and cooperating with a second pair of twin surfaces (58) formed in the torque support, allowing a circumferential offset between two pads of the same brake.

Disc brake of the type incorporating a caliper (10) sliding on a fixed support by way of at least one axial pin (14) lying parallel to the axis of the disc (16), a brake actuator (22) acting directly upon an inner friction component (28), and, by reaction through the caliper (10), upon an outer friction component (30), the friction components (28, 30) being tangentially offset each side of a radial plane (Pr) passing through the axis of the brake actuator (22), the inner friction component (28) being anchored on the fixed support, the outer friction component (30) being anchored on the caliper (10), the tangential offset of the friction components (28, 30) being such that during forward braking (B) the caliper is subjected to a tangential force (Ft) generated by the outer friction component (30). The caliper (10) incorporates a device for positioning (32) the caliper relative to the fixed support, the positioning device (32) being progressive and dependent upon the tangential force (Ft) over a predetermined range of the force (Ft).

The braking system incorporates at least one brake disc disc (26 36) mounted so as to slide axially on a hub (22) along key mechanisms (30, 32). According to the invention the braking system incorporates an integral device for forced greasing (60) of the key mechanisms (30, 32) formed by two sealed chambers with variable volumes joined to one another by way of the key mechanisms (30, 32).

Multi-disc brake, of the type incorporating at least one first rotary disc firmly fixed to the wheel of the vehicle and a second rotary disc mounted so as to slide on a support component itself firmly fixed to the wheel, the driving in rotation of the second disc by the said support component being effected by the intermediary of complementary splines having a gear tooth profile. To overcome the undersirable effects of the tilting moment exerted on the sliding disc (2) by the thrust of the actuating cylinder (12), the invention is arranged to provide this disc with axial guiding projections (14) engaging in openings of corresponding shape (15) arranged in the other disc (1).

The servomotor incorporates a component (30) for retaining and for positioning the plunger (12) forming the moveable seat (11) for the valve means (9), the component (30) consisting of a plate incorporating a U-shaped central portion lying in a radial cavity (18) of the valve body (8) and cooperating with a shoulder (47) of the plunger (12), and a portion outside the valve body (8) pivoting about an axis Z carried by the valve body and having an end (42) coming into abutment, in the rest position, against a ring (43) mounted in the neck (21) of the casing (1).
