An opto-electronic module is configured to fit between anterior and posterior surfaces of a contact lens. The opto-electronics module may comprise a plurality of light sources configured to direct a plurality of light beams to a region of the retina away from the fovea and in some embodiments away from the macula. Each of the plurality of light sources may comprises an LED and one or more projection optics. Each of the projection optics can be coupled to an LED with an adhesive prior to placing the opto-electronics module on a layer of contact lens material. The opto-electronics module may comprise a flex PCB with the plurality of light sources, an antenna, a battery, a capacitor and a processor supported on the flex PCB.

An implant insertion assembly including an insertion handle extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the distal end including a recessed portion, an outer wall of the recessed portion having a first shape about a perimeter thereof and including an engagement mechanism. The implant insertion assembly also includes an implant extending from a distal end to a proximal end including an opening configured to receive the recessed portion of the insertion handle, the opening having a second shape configured to mechanically interlock with the outer wall of the recessed portion when the recessed portion is inserted therein to transmit torque from the insertion handle to the implant, the proximal end including a receiving structure in a wall thereof, the receiving structure being positioned and oriented to receive the engagement mechanism to removably lock the insertion handle to the implant in the axial direction.

A contact lens shaped measuring device comprises a sensor having a protrusion towards the cornea. The measuring device is flexible to a degree that it is flattened by a closing eye lid and the protrusion creates an indentation of the cornea. The force on the protrusion is measured by the sensor. Applying a constant lid acceleration/deceleration model to the movement of the lid and a mechanical model to the cornea, the tension of the cornea is determined and deduced from the force measured with the lid closed, yielding the true intraocular pressure. In an alternative, the protrusion is characterized by a discontinuity in its shape, or the sensor is subdivided, each subsensor being characterized by a protrusion of different shape. With the values obtained as extrema and at the discontinuity or with different protrusions, the tension of the cornea can be obtained by a (linear) extrapolation.

Method and device for monitoring biomechanical properties of the eye

A mechanism to dispense a carbonated beverage from a closed package may include reducing a pressure of a gas from a cartridge using one or more pressure regulators coupled to the cartridge. Further, the flow rate of the gas having the reduced pressure may be regulated using a flow regulator coupled to the one or more pressure regulators. The flow regulator may be coupled to a dispensing head comprising a sequential arrangement of a snifting valve and a dispensing valve. Using the sequential arrangement, the gas whose flow rate is regulated may be released into the closed package to dispense a carbonated beverage in the closed container at a controlled rate to minimize a foaming.

A dispensing apparatus for a liquid product, the apparatus comprising a) a housing () or frame (), b) a receptacle () for the liquid with a feed nozzle () arranged substantially stationary with respect to the housing or frame, c) a dosing chamber () having an orifice (), d) a mechanism arranged to allow at least ejection of liquid through the orifice and e) a through passage () arranged to allow the ejected liquid to pass in a direction different from the feed nozzle or opening. The mechanism comprises a mobile element arranged movable with respect to the housing or frame between at least a first position in which the orifice of the dosing chamber and the feed nozzle or opening are in flow communication and a second position in which the orifice and the through passage are in flow communication and the mechanism is arranged to allow aspiration of liquid through the orifice when the mobile element is in the first position and ejection of liquid through the orifice when the mobile element is in the second position. A method for operating the device comprises the steps of i) connecting the orifice and the nozzle or opening in flow communication, ii) filling liquid into the dosing chamber through the orifice, iii) aligning the orifice with the through passage, and iv) ejecting liquid from the dosing chamber through the orifice.

Dispensing apparatus and method for liquid products, particularly medicinal products

A device and use method for ejecting a liquid stream towards an eye, the stream moving from a proximal position towards a distal position, the device comprising a) a housing, b) a container for the liquid, c) at least one opening arranged for ejection of the stream and being in fluid communication with the container, d) a pump mechanism operable to deliver at least part of the liquid from the container through the opening to form the stream and e) an eyecup with a contact surface arranged for contact with the eye or its facial surroundings. The eyecup is arranged movable with respect to the opening or housing between at least two positions i) an active position with said eyecup contact surface at a defined safety distance to the opening and ii) a rest position with the eyecup contact surface at a position more proximal than in the active position and a sensor is arranged to allow discrimination between the positions. The pump mechanism may include a pump driver able to store cocked energy for driving the pump mechanism and at least one activation mechanism may be present and operable to initiate the device for the liquid delivery, whereby a driving mechanism is arranged to transform manual or stored energy both i) into cocked energy of the pump driver and ii) into direct or stored energy for operation of the activation mechanism.
