A nonconnecting lens blank and method provide an integrated optical function insert and allow for ease in trimming by the ability to visually orient the geometric alignment of the optical function insert. The nonconnecting lens blank has an inner concave face ( ) and an outer convex face ( ) delimited by a peripheral border ( ). A matrix ( ) of transparent material transmits light from the outer face towards the inner face. An insert ( ) integrating the optical function is placed in one of the faces of the matrix. The matrix may include a housing ( ) in which the insert ( ) is fitted. The insert ( ) preferably has two truncated concentric circular edges ( ) separated by two straight parallel edges ( ). The optical function may be polarization with the plane of polarization aligned relative to the straight edges.

Non-correcting lens blank, and method for making same

This lens is mounted in a frame having two earpieces and composed of two spherical surfaces ( ) and an optical center. In the standard wearing position in which a horizontal line connects the center of the pupil of the eye to an area of the ear on which an earpiece of the frame rests, the optical axis defined by the line passing through the two centers of the spherical surfaces makes an angle of at least 10&deg; with a horizontal axis.
