In a method for controlling an actuating device of a valve element of an intake system and/or an exhaust gas system of the internal combustion using an actuating variable, a periodic compensation signal is applied, at least intermittently, to the actuating device. The compensation signal generates a periodic counterforce at the valve element which is directed in the opposite direction from the periodic force exerted by the undesired disturbing vibrations of the valve element.

Method and device for controlling the angular speed of an electromechanical drive train with little damping. The control of the speed of the load driven in rotation by an electromechanical drive train with little damping, possibly having transmission nonlinearities such as play, without measuring said speed, is accomplished by using an observer in conjunction with a robust CRONE-type non-integer order controller, the physical realization of which is achieved by an integer order controller obtained by approximation in the frequency domain. The device thus provides good damping for the system in the presence of resonance frequencies and excellent robustness, while still allowing a relatively simple adjustment.

Method and device for controlling angular speed of an electromechanical drive train with little damping

An arrangement for damping movement of a mass with respect to a support to which the mass is connected by a suspension device. The suspension device is provided with one or more springs and a hydraulic damping system through which a hydraulic fluid flows. One or more devices are present for wire-drawing this fluid through a respective aperture. Each wire-drawing device is arranged to continuously vary the damping characteristics by controlling the extent of opening of the aperture(s) and thus regulate the flow of the fluid through the hydraulic damping system.
