A flight conveyor for conveying articles while preventing injuries to an operator, the flight conveyor comprising a frame defining a trough, a drive system defining a rotating pathway and at least one flight driven by the drive system along the rotating pathway for conveying the articles through the trough, wherein the at least one flight is detachably fastened to the drive system and configured to be detached when subjected to a resistive force capable of injuring an operator.

Safety device for push conveyor

A chain tensioning sprocket is moveable with a predetermined force into a U-shaped path of a chain to apply continuous tensioning force to the chain. The change in length of the chain is measured by detecting the movement of the chain tensioning sprocket into the U-shaped path of the chain, and measurement of movement of the chain tensioning sprocket indicates a change in the length of the whole chain, which, in turn, indicates the wear on the parts of the chain and the expected operative life of the chain.

A synthetic turf surface for golf courses, tennis courts and other grass-surfaced game playing fields is formed of a synthetic grass carpet having a flexible base sheet with closely spaced-apart upright, blade-like strands of plastic material forming a dense grass-like surface. The carpet is supported upon a cushioning underpad which is formed of a thick, molded sheet of open cell, expanded bead polypropylene. The resiliently compressible polypropylene underpad combined with the synthetic grass carpet closely simulates the feel of a natural grass covered playing field surface.

Synthetic turf game surface

A method for forming a synthetic turf game-playing surface comprises, first, providing a pile carpet cover having a base sheet carrying closely spaced-apart, upright, grass-like plastic strands forming simulated grass blades. The cover is laid upon a resilient cushion pad supported upon a firm surface, and sand-like particular material is blasted against the upper portions of the blades at sufficient pressure and for sufficient time to shred the blade upper end portions into fine slivers which remain joined to their respective blades and become intertwined with adjacent slivers to form a dense mat upon the upper surface of the carpet. During the blasting, the resilient cushion beneath the carpet, resiliently supports the upright blades against being crushed or permanently compressed by the force of the blasting.
