At least one aspect of the disclosure is directed to an AC switching system. The AC switching system includes a first I/O, a second I/O, a first segment including a first plurality of switches, the first segment being coupled to the first I/O, a second segment including a second plurality of switches, the second segment being coupled with the first segment and coupled to the second I/O, a third segment including a diode, the third segment being coupled to the first I/O and coupled to a junction of the first segment and the second segment, and a fourth segment including a diode, the fourth segment being coupled to the second I/O and coupled to the junction of the first segment and the second segment.

Multistate PWM command for 3 levels inverters

An uninterruptible power supply operates between a main supply input, a battery and a load, and comprises an input converter and an output converter. In a first mode of operation, AC mains power received at the supply input is converted by said input converter and output converter in series to provide an AC power supply to the load. In a second mode of operation, stored energy is released from the battery via the output converter to maintain the AC power supply to the load. A further converter can be used during the first mode of operation to charge the battery from a charging supply input. The charging current bypasses the input converter, allowing charging rate to be increased, without increasing a power rating of the input converter. The further converter may be bidirectional and be used also in the second mode.

A converter to supply an AC voltage and current from three DC voltages comprising two switching units provided with first switching means connected between an input and a switching output, said converter comprising, for each switching unit, second switching means connected between said switching unit and a modulated signal output, and a switching aid circuit, said converter comprising control means acting on the second switching means associated with the switching unit that is connected to the voltage input of opposite sign to the sign of said AC voltage to establish turn-off of said second switching means when said AC voltage and said AC current are of opposite signs. The device of the invention is characterized in that the inductive means are essentially formed by a transformer directly connected to the power supply input and comprising reverse-coiled windings, and that the branch-off means comprise auxiliary switching means directly connected between said inductive means and a voltage reference or an output line to establish branch-off of the input current onto said inductive means before main turn-on. An uninterruptible power supply comprising the converter device described above.
