Wireless power and telemetry systems for multi-stage completions are provided. Various configurations for couplers, e.g., electro-magnetic couplers, for use in such systems are also provided.

Multi-stage wireless completions

Wireless multi-stage completions for providing power to and telemetry communication with downhole device(s) are provided. A power generation system can be disposed along a production string to power downhole devices. The power generation system can be driven by annulus fluid flow or production fluid flow and converts the fluid flow to electrical energy. The power generation system can be retrievably disposed in a side pocket mandrel.

Power generation for multi-stage wireless completions

A method of determining changing well characteristics at downhole locations based on changes in detected temperatures by permanently installed downhole sensors. The methods and tools utilized involve the establishing of baseline temperature profiles, for example, at the outset of well operations. The installed sensors may be powered are rechecked on a periodic or continuous basis for substantial deviations to the temperature profiles which are indicative of particular well condition changes such as the depositing of asphaltene or decreases in fluid velocity.

Temperature sensor technique for determining a well fluid characteristic

Devices, systems and methods for transmitting downhole data are provided. The devices include a rotor-stator modulator configured for use in a drill string, and a drive and control system configured to drive the rotor according to a modulation scheme resulting in both oscillating and full rotational movement. The modulation scheme can comprise a trajectory algorithm such as a QAM trajectory algorithm. The systems include a modulator disposed within a drill string which creates modulated pulses according to an algorithm providing for both oscillating and full rotational movement of the rotor, and may also include a demodulator. The methods include transmitting coded data by driving a rotor relative a stator disposed in a drill string according to a modulation scheme that provides both oscillating and full rotational movement and results in modulated mud pulses representative of data recorded downhole, and may involve decoding the data.

Mud pulse telemetry devices, systems, and methods

A downhole assembly may include a housing having an outer surface and an inner surface, the outer surface adapted for contact with a downhole fluid, the inner surface defining an interior volume. One or more heat producing components may be disposed within the interior volume and in thermal contact with a structural component (e.g., chassis). One or more thermal dissipation members may be disposed within the housing, the one or more thermal dissipation members in thermal contact with the chassis and in thermal contact with the inner surface of the housing.
