The invention relates to the field of the optical recording of information on a medium, such as an optical disc. To read an optical disc in super-resolution mode, a procedure for optimizing the power of the read laser beam is implemented. This optimization is based on the observation that a correlation exists between the power allowing the disc to be read without risk in super-resolution mode and the reflectivity of the sensitive layer containing the information. The reflectivity of the optical disc is measured for several power levels of the read laser, a critical power is determined on the basis of the reflectivity measurements made, and a read power sufficiently above the critical power, so as to be well outside a range of power levels entailing risks, is selected according to the critical power.

At least one hollow zone is formed in a stack of at least one upper layer and one lower layer. The upper layer is patterned to form at least a first hollow region passing through said upper layer. The first hollow region is extended by a second hollow region formed in the lower layer by etching through an etching mask formed on the patterned upper layer. The etching mask is formed by a resin layer, positively photosensitive to an optic radiation of a predetermined wavelength, exposed to the said optic radiation through the stack and developed. The lower and upper layers of the stack are respectively transparent and opaque to said predetermined wavelength so that the patterned upper layer acts as exposure mask for the resin layer.

Formation of deep hollow areas and use thereof in the production of an optical recording medium

A pit is formed from a stack comprising at least one first layer formed by a material able to change physical state and a second layer made of the same material as that forming the first layer, but in a different physical state. An area of the first layer is treated to make said area go from its initial physical state to the physical state corresponding to that of the second layer. A selective etching step is then performed to eliminate said area of the first layer and the area of the second layer initially covered by the treated area of the first layer. Advantageously, said material is a phase transition material.

Formation of deep pit areas and use thereof in fabrication of an optic recording medium

The invention relates to the reading of digital optical recordings at very high density (CD, DVD, etc.). Reading is done by a PRML ('Partial Response Maximum Likelihood') technique which uses a model of analog response to the recording of an isolated information bit. Customarily, the response model is represented by four or five signal samples having standardized levels 1 or 2. To take account of particular phenomena of super-resolution reading, the invention proposes the use of a model having 6 to 10 samples that can take 4 or 5 standardized levels. This model can result from the superposition of two simpler models having only two possible levels of samples taken from 1, 2 and 3.

Method of reading optical information in super-resolution

The recording medium comprises at least a first (L) and a second (L) micro-structured stage assembled by an adhesive layer () and arranged between micro-structured bottom () and top substrates. A polymerizable layer forming the adhesive layer () is deposited on the first stage (L). Then a micro-structured transparent matrix () is provisionally placed on the adhesive layer () so as to micro-structure the adhesive layer (). Polymerization of the adhesive () is performed by exposure, through the matrix (), with a polymerization light. Then the matrix () is removed and the second stage (L) is deposited on the micro-structured adhesive layer (). Then an additional adhesive layer () is deposited on the second stage (L) and the micro-structured matrix () is definitively placed on the additional adhesive layer () so as to form the top substrate.

Process for producing an optical recording medium with several stages and medium obtained thereby

A device for reading a biochip including plural molecular recognition areas and plural optical positioning marks, associated with recognition areas. The device includes an optical head capable of projecting excitation light onto the biochip. A device is provided to effectuate relative displacement between the head and the biochip. A first optical analysis system is associated with the optical head to receive any light arriving from recognition areas. A second optical positioning system is associated with the optical head to receive any light from at least one guide track and/or optical positioning mark. A device is further provided for servocontrolling scanning by the optical head. Such a device may find particular application to biological and chemical analysis.
