A heat-resistant and biaxially stretched blow-molded plastic container includes a base movable to accommodate vacuum forces generated within the container and thereby decrease the volume of the container. Embodiments of a container include a push-up portion, and first and second parting lines that are separated from one another by a gap and that extend on opposite sides of the push-up portion. Embodiments of such a container exhibit one or more of the following: (a) a distance between each parting line and the center of the base is not more than 20 mm; (b) a distance between the two parting lines is not more than 40 mm; and/or (c) a distance between the two parting lines is less than 50% of the transverse dimension of the base measured between the two outermost points of the parting lines. Methods for blow molding heat-resistant plastic containers are also disclosed.

A container () and a screwable closure () comprising a hollow body () and a neck finish () terminated by a wide-mouth opening (). Said neck finish comprises a neck support ring () and a neck portion () extending between the wide-mouth opening () and the neck support ring (). The neck portion () comprises an upper portion () and a reinforced lower portion (). The inner face () of the reinforced lower portion () is transitioning to the inner face () of the upper portion () along a transition step () in such a way that said reinforced lower portion () is thicker than the upper portion () at least in a top part of the reinforced lower portion (). The neck support ring () is below the removable closure ().

Assembly comprising a wide-mouth plastic preform or container having a reinforced neck finish and a screwable closure

A hot-fillable plastic container includes a base and a body extending upward from the base. The includes a deformable cylindrical sidewall portion defining a central vertical axis, wherein the deformable cylindrical sidewall portion comprises at least two vertical pillars arranged along the body circumference. Each vertical pillar is joined to the next vertical pillar by a generally concave deformable sidewall panel having a concave arc-shaped transverse cross section of curvature radius. The curvature radii of the vertical pillars are smaller than the curvature radii of the generally concave deformable panels, and each transition between a vertical pillar and a generally concave deformable panel is smooth without any convex portion. The large curvature radius of each generally concave deformable panel allows an inward deformation of each panel, and each pillar is slightly pushed outward and is slightly deformed with a small reduction of its curvature radius, under the vacuum created inside the container by the volume reduction of a hot-filled product during cooling.
