In a method for parametering a field device of process automation technology, wherein the field device is connected via a bus system with a control unit, parameter values are packaged in telegrams of cyclic services and transmitted to the field device whose parameter values are to be changed. No acyclic services are required for changing parameter values.

Method for parameterizing a process automation field device by simulating the acyclic services

A field device of process automation technology containing a plurality of parameters, with which are associated device-internal parameter addresses. The field device is connectable to a fieldbus having a fieldbus-specific parameter addressing system. In such case, the device-internal parameter addresses of the plurality of parameters are determinable by application of a generic mathematical function to belonging fieldbus-specific parameter addresses formed according to the fieldbus-specific parameter addressing system.

A method for operating an automation technology field device connected via a bus system with a superordinated unit and having an identifier identifying the type of the field device, at least one alternative identifier AKF, which identifies a similar type of field device, is stored, in addition to an identifier KF, in the field device F. This alternative identifier AKFis transmitted, on query, to the superordinated unit PLC, when the superordinated unit fails to accept as valid the identifier KFtransmitted in prior queries. In this way, a replacement of a field device is possible simply and quickly.
