A substrate sheet transporting device is provided. The device includes a first transfer cylinder defining a first axis, a circumferential direction and a transverse direction and a transfer belt () extending around the first transfer cylinder. The first transfer cylinder includes first openings for the passage of a gas and the transfer belt includes second openings for the passage of a gas. The transfer belt and the first transfer cylinder define an alignment position in which the second passage openings are aligned with the first passage openings. The transfer device includes a device for adjusting the position of the transfer belt relative to the first transfer cylinder by bringing the transfer belt toward the alignment position. The invention is applicable to cutting devices of rotary printing presses.

The sheet transporting device of the invention includes: a transferring device () adapted to transfer a sheet (), a conveying device (A) for conveying a sheet transferred from the transferring device () onto the conveying device, and a controlling means () adapted to control the speed of the conveying device (A) and defining a transfer cycle (CT). The controlling means () is adapted to slow down the conveying device () when a sheet is conveyed by the related conveying device and to accelerate the conveying device when no sheet is present on said conveying device. The invention can be used for the cutting devices of rotary printing machines.

A folding device capable of folding signatures and includes a blade cylinder, which is provided with at least one blade; a counter-pressure cylinder, which is provided with at least two counter-pressure elements which together define an axial gap; and a conveying element which is capable of conveying a signature, and which extends in the axial gap. The blade extends over the axial gap and the conveying element extends in the axial gap with spacing from the blade when the blade co-operates with the counter-pressure elements.

Folding device

A transport device for sleeve-shaped covers for cylinders in printing units of a printing press includes a translation element and a number of carrier elements for sleeve-shaped covers. The carrier elements are received on the translation element. A movement of the translation element causes at least a group of carrier elements to be positioned in the vicinity of cylinders of the printing press such that sleeve-shaped covers received on the carrier elements of the group are transferable directly from the carrier elements to the cylinders or that sleeve-shaped covers received on the cylinders are transferable directly to the carrier elements of the group. In the method of changing sleeve-shaped covers, groups of carrier elements are positioned in front of the cylinders so that the sleeve-shaped covers are taken off the cylinders and transferred directly to carrier elements or are transferred and mounted from carrier elements directly to cylinders and are mounted thereon.

Folding apparatus in a web-fed rotary printing press

A sleeve-shaped printing element for mounting on a carrying cylinder in a printing unit of a web-processing rotary printing machine. The element includes a structure formed of material permitting radial expansion of the sleeve-shaped printing element, the carrying cylinder has an elongated axial extent and being formed with ducts for discharging an expansion medium. The ducts open on a circumferential surface of the carrying cylinder, and the expansion medium is pressurizable by a pressure source. The sleeve-shaped printing element is formed with an inner diameter increasing from one end to the other end of the printing element, and is formed with an at least approximately constant wall thickness; and a combination of the printing element and the carrying cylinder.

The method includes: presetting the wetting agent quantity supplied to the printing form, calibrating the wetting agent quantity supplied at an ink quantity that is essentially kept constant, adjusting the wetting agent quantity to a wetting agent quantity setpoint value that is characteristic for the specific print job, increasing or decreasing the ink quantity from an ink quantity setpoint value to an ink quantity target value that is desirable for the printing job to be processed, and a corresponding increasing or decreasing of the wetting agent quantity setpoint value in the same direction to a wetting agent quantity target value, and regulating the supplied wetting agent quantity in a closed control loop as a function of the wetting agent quantity target value.

A device for automatically catching a torn material web running through a rotary printing machine includes a pair of clamping rollers, respectively, disposed beneath and above the material web, the rollers being rotatingly entrainable and being able to clamp the web when a web tear is detected, at least one of the clamping rollers having variable outer main dimensions, and an actuator connected to the at least one clamping roller for causing the outer main dimensions thereof to increase upon detection of a web tear, so as to clamp the torn material web between the clamping rollers.

An apparatus for the transport and slowing of folding copies in a folding machine. The folding copies are transported by belt groups, and the copies are removed from a surface of the copy-guiding cylinder by the belt groups. A method for detecting disruptions in the transport of a web in a rotary printing press. A speed evaluation is performed on the web and then analyzed, including a comparison of a contactless measurement of the instantaneous speed (VPAP(t)) of the web with a speed selected from the group of speeds of the web consisting of: 1. a virtual speed (VVIRT(t) which is evaluated from the mechanical speed of the press, 2. an average speed (VAVE(t)) measured during a time before the last measurement, and 3. a speed (VPAP (t.sub.k-1)) measured at the moment immediately before the moment when an instantaneous speed (VPAP(t.sub.k)) is measured. The analysis is performed to obtain a respective speed difference, and to compare the respective speed difference with a respective prescribed threshold value. If the speed difference is not within the threshold value, a signal is generated which indicates that the web is not traveling at the proper speed.
