A toe-piece for binding a boot to a gliding board, the toe-piece including a frame; two wings each pivotable in relation to the frame about an axis of rotation and supporting a lateral interface surface designed to come into contact with a front portion of the boot when the toe-piece is in a descent configuration. The toe-piece further includes a lateral release mechanism that includes a connecting element connected to the wings such that the displacement of the connecting element causes the rotation of the wings about their axes of rotation; a first elastic member, a first end of which is connected to the connecting member; and a body against which a second end of the first elastic member presses. The toe-piece further includes an adjustment mechanism that acts on the wings in order to position them alternately in a first configuration, in which each lateral interface surface is in contact with the boot, or in a second configuration, in which each lateral interface surface is away from the boot, for the same positioning of the boot in relation to the toe-piece. The body of the lateral release mechanism is movable in relation to the frame.

Ski binding

A toe-piece for binding a boot to a gliding board, the toe-piece including a first front boot-retaining device and a second front boot-retaining device. The first front boot-retaining device is designed for ascending a slope and includes boot-fastening mechanisms defining a hinge axis about which the boot pivots when the toe-piece is in an ascent configuration. The second front boot-retaining device is designed for descending a slope and includes two wings each supporting a lateral interface surface designed to come into contact with a front portion of the boot when the toe-piece is in a descent configuration. The toe-piece also includes a longitudinal stop surface movable between an active position in which it is designed to cooperate with the front portion of the boot, and an inactive position in which it is arranged so that it is no longer capable of cooperating with the front portion of the boot. The longitudinal stop surface is movable in relation to the wings.

Safety binding for alpine skis

A ski binding including a body having a jaw for retaining a boot upon a ski. The binding includes an energization mechanism for elastically biasing the jaw toward a retention position and for enabling the jaw to move to a release position in response to a force being exerted by the boot greater than a release threshold force. The energization mechanism includes a spring and an adjustment device functionally associated with the spring, the adjustment device including an adjustment screw for adjusting the amount of force by which the energization mechanism biases the jaw, thereby affecting the value of the release threshold force. The adjustment screw extends along an axis which is distinct from the axis of the spring, whereby the head of the adjustment screw recessed within the body of the binding and is thereby positioned in a manner to protect it from being inadvertently hit and thereby inadvertently moved from a predetermined setting. Additionally, the configuration of the adjustment screw and spring of the binding reduces the somewhat longitudinal cumbersomeness that it otherwise would have.

Safety binding for a ski

A safety binding for releasably holding the toe of a skier's boot to the top of a ski having a longitudinally extending median plane includes a base adapted to be attached to the top of the ski, and a clamping device mounted on the base for movement between a clamping position in which the toe of the boot is clamped to the ski and an unclamping position in which the toe of the boot is released from the ski. An actuator is provided for moving the clamp from its clamping position towards its unclamping position in response to up-and-down pivotal movement of the toe of the boot about an axis perpendicular to the median plane, or side-to-side pivotal movement of the toe of the boot about an axis perpendicular to the top of the ski. A spring-biased force transmission element is provided; and an interconnection between the force transmission element and the clamp is constructed and arranged to effect displacement of the force transmission element against the bias of the spring in response to either side-to-side pivotal movement of the toe of the boot or up-and-down movement of the toe of the boot, or combinations thereof.
