A method of making a pump dispenser using a container with a flexible bag for dispensing semi-liquid or creamy substances includes using a flexible bag within an outer rigid container, a bushing fitting in the mouth of the container and a flexible bag secured to the lower part of the bushing in sealing relationship therewith. A pump dispenser is partially fitted in the bushing and the assembly of rigid container, bushing, flexible bag and dispenser are subjected to a vacuum to purge the bag of gas. Subsequently, the pump dispenser is sealingly fit to the bushing except for a venting opening in the bushing that is used to fill the space between the bag and the rigid container with preferably inert gas inserted through the pump dispenser. The pump dispenser is subsequently sealed to the mouth area of the rigid container.

The invention provides a miniature pump for substances such as cosmetics or pharmaceuticals. The pump comprises a cylindrical body with a bottom intake provided with an inlet valve, in which a skirt encloses a movable piston against the action of a return spring, the piston being provided with a nozzle which passes through the skirt and having an axial channel closed by an internal valve member, biased by a spring. The nozzle is provided at its top portion with an internal shoulder, its bottom portion widening out by contrast into a collar, onto which a bushing is forced by its top edge, the bushing acting externally as a piston sealing gasket, defining under the collar of the nozzle an internal chamber in which the outlet valve member is located, its base being pierced by an axial orifice which acts as an annular seat for the valve member, the return spring for the valve member and the valve member itself being introduced from below and placed inside the nozzle. This pump provides excellent spraying.

This invention has as its subject a dispensing device for fluid-like products, composed of a container having a cylindrical drum, of which one end is provided with a movable base and the other end includes a neck which is capped by a distributor assembly including a pump with axial intake which is fitted onto a plunger sleeve. The lower face of the sleeve penetrates into the neck of the container during the fixing of the distributor assembly in the neck of the container, coming into position in sliding sealing engagement with a bearing surface of the neck.

An inhaler for powder products comprising a housing having an oral suction mouthpiece, a piston contained within the housing for movement in opposite directions, and an elastic member for urging the piston in one direction. The mouthpiece connects with a chamber in which the piston is located so that inhaling through the mouthpiece draws the piston toward the user's mouth. The piston includes a charging cavity for holding a charge of powder product. The cavity communicates with the internal volume of the mouthpiece as the piston is drawn toward the user's mouth whereby the charge is dispensed and inhaled by the user.

An atomizing nozzle usable on a vaporizer or atomizer is provided, having a unified core and valve member and a diaphragm perforated by a narrow orifice. The unitary member is axially mobile and laterally guided in a chamber within the nozzle. Additionally, the unified member has, on its end remote from the orifice, a concave circular cup in which the edges of the cup are turned toward the orifice, and, on its end nearest to the orifice, a core portion which cooperates with the diaphragm to form a system of turbulent channels which supply the orifice.

An apparatus and method for storing and mixing components for forming a product and dispensing the resultant product. The apparatus comprises a dispensing head, a first cartridge for storing a first fluid component, and a second cartridge for storing a second fluid component. The first cartridge and the second cartridge each have a first open end and a second closed end. A first distributor provides fluid communication between the first cartridge and the dispensing head, and a second distributor provides fluid communication between the second cartridge and the dispensing head. Both the first and second distributors have a preselected effective stroke distance. A compensating assembly is also provided. A housing maintains the dispensing head, first cartridge, second cartridge, first distributor, second distributor, and compensating assembly in operative relation with each other. Upon movement of the dispensing head and housing toward each other, the compensating assembly will yield to reduce the stroke of the first distributor. Thus, the firt component and the second component are mixed in a preselected proportion within the dispensing head to form a resultant product and the product is subsequently discharged from the dispensing head.

An apparatus for storing and combining at least two discreetly stored chemical compositions to form a mixture or a reaction product and to dispense the mixture or reaction product therefrom. The apparatus comprises at least a first receptacle and a second receptacle, each configured for operation with a corresponding aerosol valve and a connecting bridge member configured for operative gas-tight association with each aerosol valve. The first receptacle contains a first component, stored therein under a substantially positive internal pressure, which is permitted to flow along a path extending through the bridge member into the second receptacle wherein it is mixed or reacted with the second component and subsequently sprayed through a spray nozzle located at an end of the bridge member. A method for using an apparatus of the type described above which comprises aligning a 3 way valve within the bridge member to form a transfer groove connecting the receptacles; exerting a force upon the bridge member to simultaneously open the valves of each receptacle to permit the first component to enter the second receptacle; realigning the 3 way valve to communicate the second receptacle with the spray nozzle and pressing the bridge member down to open the valve upon the second receptacle, thereby permitting the contents thereof to be dispensed through the nozzle as an aerosol spray.

A pump comprises an open-ended hollow body defining a pump chamber and an inlet orifice which communicates with a reservoir. The pump body has four side walls. A piston is mounted for reciprocal movement through a portion of the body and it extends through the upper end of the body. A ferrule is disposed above the body and defines an aperture through which the piston extends. A seal is disposed is disposed between the ferrule and the body, and the seal surround a portion of the piston. A spring is mounted in the body, and the spring actively biases the piston toward the top of the body. The body has a deformable zone which has at least a portion of one side wall which is a noncircular cross-section and is radially elastically deformable. The piston has a portion which blocks the inlet orifice when the piston is depressed a first predetermined distance. The piston has an evacuation duct having a lower duct portion extending through the periphery of the piston which puts the pump chamber in communication with ambient air when the piston is depressed a second predetermined distance sufficient for the lower duct portion to be lower than the seal, the second predetermined distance being greater then the first predetermined distance. The lower duct portion is located sufficiently high on the piston so as to delay the placing of the pump chamber into communication with ambient air by the evacuation duct until after the piston is depressed into the body the second predetermined distance which is sufficiently in excess of the first predetermined distance so as to pressurize the pump chamber and radially elastically deform the deform the deformable zone.

The invention relates to a dispensing valve comprising a body formed of a cylindrical casing of rigid material closed by a cover, in which two seals having fluid-tight joints create a lock chamber inside which moves an atomizer provided with a sliding distributor, guided at its ends, which a return spring placed upstream urges towards the cover. The valve has a sleeve allowing alteration of the volume of the chamber and a front seal formed as a separate member, both formed of semi-rigid plastic material. The seal is disposed immediately adjacent an abutment surface formed in the casing. The design is such that entry of liquid during filling takes place through an auxiliary duct and the front seal and sleeve may be formed as a single member if desired.
