A method and apparatus enabling the production of ultra-fine and concentrated aerosol from liquids, for various applications, by using a rigid porous medium adapted to act as a pneumatic multi-nozzle atomizing system, characterized by having two flat sides and a plurality of pores, and further containing a liquid partially absorbed in the porous medium, thus enabling storage and easy streaming of the aerosol (e.g. for inhalation), fast replacement of liquid carrier device and accuracy of output sprayed dose.

The invention concerns a method and apparatus () for producing mist of a liquid phase having very fine and mono-dispersed droplets. The method is realized by an apparatus () including a partition (), defined by a first side surface () and a second side surface (). The first side surface () is wetted by a liquid phase to form a film thereon, while the second side surface () is substantially dry. A gas stream is directed through the partition () from the dry side () to the wetted side () thereby forming a mist having droplets of less than 1 micron in size and a concentration of at least 1,000,000,000,000 per cubic cm.

Spray drying system for drying a liquid feed which is made up of a solution or suspension of particles in a fluid medium. The system enables the spray drying of wet material and converting the material into powder by evaporation of a liquid medium at reduced pressure or at a vacuum. The system includes a heating chamber and an evacuation device, communicating with the interior of the heating chamber. This provision enables creation of reduced pressure within the chamber, accompanied by evaporation of the fluid medium at temperatures lower than needed for evaporation at normal pressure, and evacuation of the moisture vapor generated during evaporation.
