A housing has a front surface, a rear surface, and side surface connecting the front surface with the rear surface. The housing is formed by injection molding. A first sub-passage is formed in the housing and communicates a first sub-passage inlet formed in the front surface with a first sub-passage outlet formed in the rear surface. A second sub-passage is formed in the housing and communicates a second sub-passage inlet formed in a midway portion of the first sub-passage with a second sub-passage outlet at a position different from the first sub-passage outlet. A flow rate detection unit is provided in the second sub-passage. A mold parting mark is formed in the rear surface of the housing at a position away from an inner opening edge of the first sub-passage outlet.

Air flow rate measurement device

A sensor support portion supports a physical quantity sensor. A flow path housing portion forms a measurement flow path, which accommodates a support tip end portion of the sensor support portion. The sensor support portion includes a support front surface, which includes a front fixed portion away from the support tip end portion and fixed to an inner surface of the flow path housing portion. The physical quantity sensor includes a sensor exposure surface exposed from the support front surface. A separation distance between an end portion of the front fixed portion and an end portion of the sensor exposure surface is smaller than a separation distance between the end portion of the sensor exposure surface and the support tip end portion.

Physical quantity measurement device

An air cleaner has a body, an intake part to take air into the body, an exhaust pipe to exhaust the air from the body, a mounting section to mount an air flow meter to the exhaust pipe, a rib disposed on an inner surface of the body, and a straightening element disposed on an inner surface of the exhaust pipe. The rib extends toward the exhaust pipe and the straightening element extends in a same direction where the rib extends. The straightening element is located closer to the body than the mounting section.

Air cleaner

A case is equipped to an intake passage where a mainstream of air flows toward an engine. The case has a bypass passage which draws a part of the mainstream. A sensor is equipped to the bypass passage. The case has an external wall as a side wall extending along the mainstream direction in which the mainstream flows. The bypass passage has an outlet port formed in the side wall as an opening which opens in a direction substantially perpendicular to the mainstream direction. The airflow measuring device further includes a throttle located on the upstream side in the mainstream direction than a center of the opening to throttle a stream of air which flows outside the case along the side wall. The throttle throttles the stream of air to flow toward a downstream side and to merge with air flowing out from the opening.

Airflow measuring device

A flow rate meter has (i) a housing therein defines a bypass path in which a part of the main flow flows, and (ii) a flow rate sensor that is arranged in the bypass path. The housing has a sidewall arranged to extend along a main flow direction. The bypass path has, as an outlet, a through-hole that is defined in the sidewall. The flow rate meter further has a plate member that is arranged to face the sidewall and defines a space into which a part of the main flow flowing outside of the housing flows. The plate member is arranged parallel with the sidewall and intersects with a center line that is perpendicular to the main flow direction and passes through a center of the through-hole.

Flow rate meter

A metal mold includes a restraining part that is fitted in a recess provided at a part of surfaces of at least two resin parts that serves as an outer surface of a resin hollow body. A linear space is filled with high-pressure resin fluid injected at a predetermined injection pressure. The resin parts are joined together. The mold receives injection pressure of resin fluid, with which the space is filled, through the resin parts, and applies pressing force, which pushes back the resin parts toward the space, to the resin parts as reaction force against injection pressure. Stress is produced on a hollow wall surface in a direction in which the wall surface projects into a hollow portion due to injection pressure. The restraining part applies pressing force to the resin parts in a direction opposite from the stress projecting the wall surface into the hollow portion.

Method for making resin hollow body and flow measuring device

An air flow measuring device is adapted to be attached to a duct. The device includes a first housing, a second housing, and a flow sensor. The first housing defines a bypass flow passage which takes in a part of air flowing in the duct, and includes a hollow part and a recess. The bypass flow passage is formed in the hollow part. The recess is formed on an upper side of the hollow part in a vertical direction of the device, and at the recess, an outer surface of the first housing is recessed inward of the first housing. The second housing is formed through secondary formation with the first housing as a primary formed part. The first housing is held on a lower side of the second housing in the vertical direction. The flow sensor is disposed in the bypass flow passage.

Air flow measuring device

An air flow measuring device includes a housing, a sensing part, a temperature sensor, a supporting member, and a protective projection. The housing defines a bypass flow passage which guides a part of air flowing in a duct. The sensing part is disposed in the bypass flow passage to measure a flow rate of air in the bypass flow passage. The sensor detects temperature of air flowing in the duct outside the housing. The supporting member supports the sensor at a predetermined measurement position. The protective projection is a projection, which projects outward from a side surface of the housing and is formed by mold removal in one direction. An end of the protective projection is located outward of the sensor. The protective projection makes contact with an object approaching the sensor from outside the housing to limit contact of the object with the sensor.

Air flow sensor including a resin-molded protection member for a temperature sensor

An airflow-rate detecting device capable of detecting humidity has a housing, a flow rate sensor, a humidity sensor, a humidity sensor case, and a dust separating portion. The housing therein defines a bypass passage into which a part of air flowing in a duct flows. The flow rate sensor is disposed in the bypass passage. The humidity sensor detects a humidity of air flowing in the duct at an outside of the housing. The humidity sensor case houses the humidity sensor and therein defines an interior space into which a part of air flowing in the duct flows as a target air of which humidity is detected by the humidity sensor. The dust separating portion removes dust from the target air before the target air flows into the interior space.

Airflow-rate detecting device capable of detecting humidity

A second sensor includes a lead wire and is exposed to intake air flowing through a passage outside a housing. A conduction body is conductively-joined to the wire. A lead hole opens on an exposed surface, and the wire or the conduction body is pulled out of the passage through the hole. A predetermined terminal is conductively-joined to the wire or the conduction body which is pulled out through the hole. A mold part is provided by injection-molding from resin fluid to seal a conductively-joined part between the wire or the conduction body and the predetermined terminal. The hole is filled up with a filler material to limit leakage of intake air from the passage. A high resilient part has higher resilience than the filler material and is located between the filler material and the mold part to receive injection pressure at time of the injection-molding of the mold part.

A pair of half hollow members are mated to each other at mating surfaces to form a resin filling space between the mating surfaces. The resin filling space is charged with melting resin, and the melting resin is solidified. Each of the mating surface has a groove. The groove has a bottom surface in which a hole opens. The groove and the hole form the resin filling space between the mating surfaces when the half hollow members are mated to each other. A wall surface of the groove and an inner circumferential periphery of the hole are equipped with a melting projection, which are configured to be melted with heat of the melting resin and to be solidified with the melting resin.

Manufacturing method for resin hollow member and airflow measuring device having the resin hollow member

A sensor assembly includes a sensor chip, a circuit board, and a wire holding case. The wire holding case holds a bonding wire, which connects the sensor chip with the circuit board. The wire holding case is inserted in an insertion hole of a case. The wire holding case has a low rigidity portion and a high rigidity portion in an X direction. The low rigidity portion has a space accommodating the bonding wire. The high rigidity portion has a reference surface in contact with an inner periphery of the insertion hole to position the wire holding case in a Y direction. The high rigidity portion has a surface on the opposite side of the reference surface in the Y direction. The surface is biased from a projection, which is formed on the inner periphery of the insertion hole, in the Y direction.

According to a method for making a resin hollow body, in a primary-formation process, molten resin is injected into spaces defined by dies to form resin components. In a die-moving process, each component is held in at least one die. Joining edges of the components are brought close through relative movement of the dies to make a predetermined arrangement of the components. In a secondary-formation process, molten resin is injected into a region where the edges are adjacent. The edges are joined to form an outer wall, partition wall, and hollow portion of the hollow body. At least one of the edges constituting the partition wall includes a linear groove. In the die-moving process, the partition-wall-constituting edges are brought into contact to define by the groove a linear hollow cavity surrounded with the edges. In the secondary-formation process, the cavity is filled with molten resin to join the partition-wall-constituting edges.

Method for making resin hollow body and air flow measuring device

An air flow measuring device includes a housing, a sensor, and a conduction member. The housing defines a bypass flow passage through which taken-in air passes. The sensor is accommodated in the bypass passage and produces an electrical signal as a result of heat transfer between taken-in air and the sensor. The conduction member includes first and second terminals. The first terminal outputs the electrical signal produced by the sensor to outside. The second terminal supplies electric power to the sensor. The housing is provided through an assembly process and a molding process. In the assembly process, the conduction member is held by a primarily shaped product defining the bypass passage to provide an assembly. In the molding process, the assembly, with the conduction member held by the primarily shaped product, is inserted into a predetermined die and a secondary molded part is injection-molded in the die.
