A latitudinal division type assist grip having a sufficient load bearing capacity is provided. The assist grip includes an outer cylinder member, a first divisional body, a second divisional body, and an elastic reinforcement member. A first fitting end portion of the first divisional body and a second fitting end portion of the second divisional body are fitted to each other inside the outer cylinder member. The elastic reinforcement member is interposed between an inner peripheral surface of the outer cylinder member and the first fitting end portion, and presses the first fitting end portion toward the second fitting end portion.

Assist grip

In an on-board display apparatus, a transmission type display device is provided in front, displays a touch switch display when necessary, and operates as a touch panel. The transmission type display device can be turned to be transparent, and an image display device is provided rearward of the transparent portion. Since the display screen of the image display device toward the back, the visual range is long, and visibility can be improved. Since the display screen of the image display device and the display screen of the transmission type display device are not on the same plane, even if the touch switch display is touched by a finger, an image can be seen, and a pointer can be displayed on the display screen of the image display device in a position corresponding to the touched position.

Display apparatus

In a molded product, at least an opening end, forming a window frame of a window formed as a part of a molded subassembly, is fastened integrally to a skin of the molded subassembly. Alternatively, a decorative component part is disposed on an outer periphery of the window so that a parting line between the decorative component part and the skin is visible as being joined closely in a decorative surface of the completed molded product. Processes for manufacturing the same are disclosed as well.

In a knee protection system according to the present invention, a knee protection panel is driven from a standby position surrounded by an interior member to the vehicle rear side to a knee-protecting position in front of the knees of an occupant by a drive mechanism when the vehicle is crashing, whereby the knees moving forward are protected by the knee protection panel thus driven. The drive mechanism includes a holding portion for holding the knee protection panel in such a manner that the knee protection panel is moved rearward. Engagement portions are provided, respectively, at locations where the holding portion and the knee protection panel connect with each other in such a manner as to be brought into engagement with each other. These engagement portions are brought into engagement with each other when the holding portion is moved rearward due to the activation of the drive mechanism in such a manner as to prevent displacement of the knee protection panel relative to the holding portion while moving the knee protection panel rearward, as well as allowing the knee protection panel to be displaced vertically and horizontally relative to the holding portion prior to the activation of the drive mechanism. With the knee protection system according to the invention, the knee protection panel can be disposed at the standby position so as to have a visually attractive break with the surrounding interior member, without deteriorating mounting work efficiency.

Knee protection system

In the occupant protection device according to the present invention, a restraint body joined with a driving mechanism is located near a target area of a seated occupant while being surrounded by an interior decoration member. Upon predicting a collision of the vehicle, the driving mechanism is actuated to protrude the restraint body from an opening in the interior decoration member for restraining the movement of the target area upon collision by its side facing the occupant, and when the collision is avoided, the driving mechanism returns the protruded restraint body in the opening of the interior decoration member. The restraint body is provided in the vicinity of its outer periphery with a retaining hole, a clip to be inserted in and retained by the retaining hole, and a guide surface for guiding the clip into the retaining hole for helping the restraint body to return in the opening of the interior decoration member. By this guide mechanism including the retaining hole, the clip and the guide surface, the restraint body is able to return to the opening of the interior decoration member smoothly without deteriorating the appearance.

Occupant protection device

An interior finish member having a door for an air bag includes a main body and a cover. The main body surrounds the periphery of the cover, and the main body and the cover form a continuous surface. The cover covers a folded air bag. The cover includes: a door, which covers the folded air bag. A breakable portion is defined by a recessed periphery of the door and is relatively thin. A hinge connects the door with the main body and provides a pivot around which the door pivots under a force of an expanding air bag. The main body is made of thermoplastic resin, and the cover is made of thermoplastic elastomer. The main body and the cover portion can be integrally formed.

Interior finish member for an automobile with an air bag device

The present invention intends to provide an air bag door construction in which the air bag develops smoothly and securely, the skin can be easily produced with small man-hour, and which is excellent in the surface appearance. The skinis formed by a moldincluding an endless and annular wallprovided at a part of a molding surface to be inclined relative to the molding surface. A groove portionof the skinformed by the wallis cut at a bottom portion thereof to separate the skininto a general portionand a door portion. The general portionand the door portionare relatively shifted to make both surfaces thereof flush with each other. When the surfaces of the general portionand the door portionare flush by the relative shift, gap between the general portionand the door portioncan be narrowed, and gap appeared on the surface can also be narrowed. Also, when the skin is disposed in the mold for foam forming, the skin can position the general portionand the door portionin the desired position easily, and will not scatter a skin chip in the development of the air bag.

Skin and manufacturing method thereof, manufacturing method of skin for air bag door and air bag door

A method for forming tear lines in the rear side of an automobile interior article having a cover portion being developed from which an airbag inflates. When either an automobile interior article body having an integrally molded surface portion or an automobile interior article surface portion is to be molded, the mold is opened after tear line forming projections are moved forward and backward with the mold closed. Thus, the tear lines can be formed at the molding time without any visible extrusion marks of the tear line forming projections on the front surface side (the design face).

Method for manufacturing automobile interior article

An automobile interior member which is represented by an instrument panel and to which an air bag device is to be assembled, is constituted by a main body portion and an air bag cover portion, the main body portion and the air bag cover portion being formed in a manner so that the main body portion is primarily molded (injection-molded) out of first thermoplastic resin material, and the air bag cover portion is secondarily molded (injection-molded) so as to be lapped with the main body portion on the back surface side. The second thermoplastic resin is oriented in a direction along a tear line (edges of rotational lid portions) of the lid portions (door portions) in the air bag cover portion so that the air bag cover portion is secondarily molded.

Automobile interior member with air bag cover portion

An air bag cover having a surface sheet including a thermoplastic elastomer decorative layer on the surface side. The breaking elongation and break strength of the thermoplastic elastomer decorative layer is adjusted utilizing a filler powder. Thereby, the breaking rapidity at a tear line groove formation position is improved.

Air bag cover

An air bag door construction in which the air bag develops smoothly and securely, the skin can be easily produced. The skin is formed by a mold including an endless and annular wall provided on a molding surface to be inclined relative to the molding surface. A groove portion of the skin formed by the wall is cut at a bottom portion to separate the skin into a general portion and a door portion which are made flush with each other. When the surfaces of the general portion and the door portion are flush the gap between the general portion and the door portion can be narrowed, and gap on the surface is narrowed. When the skin is disposed in the mold for foam forming, the skin can position the general portion and the door portion in the desired position easily, and will not scatter a skin chip in the development of the air bag.

Manufacturing method of skin for air bag door

An attachment portion is formed of a synthetic resin material integrally with both ends of a grip body formed of a synthetic resin. A pair of concave portions opposed to each other are provided on an outer peripheral surface of a resin layer forming a hollow portion provided through gas injection in an almost central part in longitudinal direction of the grip body, thereby reducing a volume of the hollow portion and increasing a thickness of the resin layer to enhance a rigidity.

Grip, molding method and molding apparatus therefor

An instrument panel is provided with an upper panel of a synthetic resin disposed on the front side, and a core panel of a synthetic resin retentive of shape and connected to the rear side of the upper panel. The core panel has a casing portion which has an opening portion opened in an air bag-protruding direction and which receives a folded air bag of a passenger seat air bag unit and an inflator for supplying an inflating gas to the air bag. The upper panel has door portions which cover the casing portion and which are pressed and opened by the air bag when the air bag is inflated.

Instrument panel

A method includes molding a set of deflector plates in a first mold with a first material, removing the deflector plates from the mold, and placing the deflector plates in a second mold, molding a duct to the deflector plates in the second mold using a second material. The molding includes forming an engaging rim in the duct for connecting the duct to another duct, and removing the deflector plates and the duct from the second mold. The deflector plates pivot with respect to the duct when the molding of the duct is finished.

Transfer register

An instrument panel is formed so that a facing layer constituted by three layers consisting of a skin layer, a foam layer and a barrier layer is disposed on the front surface side of a base and a rupture presumptive portion is disposed in a region for covering a folded air bag so that the rupture presumptive portion is opened so as to enable the air bag to protrude when the air bag is unfolded and inflated. The rupture presumptive portion is formed so that cutdown portions are formed so as to extend from the back surface side of the base to the barrier layer along the rupture presumptive portion. A large number of holes are provided at least in the skin layer so as to cover only the rupture presumptive portion and its vicinity.
