A stator for a rotary electric machine includes a stator core, three-phase coils, and a neutral point connection conductor. The three-phase coils are wound around the stator core. The neutral point connection conductor is connected to each of the three-phase coils. The neutral point connection conductor includes a linear conductor that is bent. The linear conductor includes two end portions and an overlapping portion in which the conductor is folded back and doubled up. One of the two end portions is connected to one-phase coil of the three-phase coils. The other of the two end portions is connected to another-phase coil of the three-phase coils. The overlapping portion is connected to the remaining-phase coil of the three-phase coils.

Stator of rotary electric machine

A synchronous machine comprises a stator and a rotor that faces the stator and rotates on a shaft thereof in a circumferential direction. The rotor has magnetic salient poles that generate reluctance torque and magnet-originating magnetic poles that generate magnet torque by using permanent magnets embedded in the rotor. The machine comprises means for shifting a magnetically substantial central position of magnetic flux emanating from the permanent magnets in the circumferential direction, by an electrical angle &#x3c0;/2 plus a predetermined angle &#x394;&#x3b8;, from a reference position taken as a central position between paired magnetic salient poles composing each magnetic pole of the machine among the magnetic salient poles. Hence a maximum amplitude of a sum between a harmonic component of the magnet torque and the reluctance torque is changed from that obtained at the reference position without the shift.

IPM type of synchronous machine

A stator for a multiple-phase rotary electric machine is provided with a stator core with slots and a coil formed of a plurality of windings for individual phases. Each winding has slot-accommodated portions accommodated in different slots, turn portions connecting the slot-accommodated portions outside of the slots in an axial direction, and a return portion that connects two of the turn portions and changes a winding direction of the winding at given slots. The turn portions include specific turn portions which are the same in a circumferential position as the turn portion connected to one of the return portion. The first and second windings are jointed to each other via a joined portion disposed in a specific slot among the slots.

A stator for a multiple-phase rotary electric machine provided a stator core with slots and a coil formed of a plurality of windings for individual phases. Each winding has slot-accommodated portions held in different slots, turn portions connecting the slot-accommodated portions outside of the slots in an axial direction, and a return portion that connects two of the turn portions and changes a winding direction of the winding at given slots. The turn portions include specific turn portions which are the same in a circumferential position as the turn portion connected to the one of the return portion. The specific turn portions are located, in a radial direction, to be drawn apart from the rotor than the slot-accommodated portions connected to the specific turn portions.

A brush holder in a tandem vehicle alternator for a vehicle is composed mainly of a primary brush holder and a secondary brush holder accommodating plural brushes, respectively. The primary and secondary brush holders are independently formed. During a step of producing a brush assembly and of mounting the brush assembly on the tandem vehicle alternator, both of the primary and secondary brush holders are integrated into a single brush holder and tightly fastened by welding using a connection metal member.

Tandem AC generator for vehicle and method of producing brush assembly thereof

A stator coil includes a belt-shaped winding band and a same-layer bridging portion. The winding band makes one or more rounds, while turning back in the axial direction a plurality of conductor wires which are aligned in parallel at a pitch of electric angle &#x3c0; (pi). The same-layer bridging portion connects a pair of the conductor wires which are of the same phase at the end portion of the winding and which are arranged in the same layer of the slot. Such arrangement enables forming a compact multi-phase stator coil.

According to the invention, a tandem alternator includes a rotary shaft, a first and a second power generation unit that are arranged in tandem in the axial direction of the rotary shaft, a housing, a slip ring-brush mechanism provided around a rear end portion of the rotary shaft, and a first and a second rectifier that are respectively fixed to a front and a rear end face of the housing, and a controller. The controller is electrically connected between the first rectifier and the slip ring-brush mechanism to control, at least, supply of the first field current to the first field winding. The controller is configured to form a freewheeling circuit when the first field current is interrupted. The controller is fixed to the rear end face of the housing to minimize the distance from the controller to the slip ring-brush mechanism, thereby minimizing resistance loss of the freewheeling circuit.

Automotive tandem alternator having high efficiency and improved arrangement of regulator

According to the invention, a tandem alternator includes a rotary shaft, a first and a second field arranged in tandem on the rotary shaft, and a first and a second armature arranged in tandem in the axial direction of the rotary shaft. The first armature is provided on an outer periphery of the first field to constitute a first power generation unit. The second armature is provided on an outer periphery of the second field to constitute a second power generation unit. The first and second fields are arranged to abut each other in the axial direction of the rotary shaft, so as to minimize the axial length of the alternator. The first and second fields are configured to respectively create a first and a second magnetomotive force whose directions are opposite to each other, so as to minimize magnetic leakage between the first and second power generation units.

Automotive tandem alternator having reduced axial length and capable of effectively suppressing magnetic leakage

According to the invention, a tandem alternator includes a rotary shaft, a first and a second power generation unit arranged in tandem in the axial direction of the rotary shaft, a housing accommodating the power generation units and having a plurality of air holes formed through a front end wall thereof, a pulley provided on a front end portion of the rotary shaft which protrudes outside from the first end wall of the housing, and a first and a second rectifier working to respectively rectify AC powers output from the first and second power generation units. The first rectifier is so fixed to the outer surface of the front end wall of the housing as to be located on the radially outside of the pulley and cover only part of the air holes. The second rectifier is fixed to the outer surface of a rear end wall of the housing.
