A process for making a fibrous panel member and a flooring structure is disclosed. The flooring structure has a subfloor, a surface layer, and an insulative pad disposed between the subfloor and the surface layer. The insulative pad has an MDI binder and reinforcement fibers distributed uniformly and randomly within a first plane. The process includes mixing a porous fiber material with a MDI adhesive. The fiber batt is compressed between a pair of porous belts. Steam and heat are applied to the compressed batt to form a bound flexible batting material.

A system and method of producing both loose cellulose insulation and bonded fiber/cellulose insulation products utilizing shredded paper particles, including making shredded paper particles in a shredded paper particle line and diverting a portion of the shredded paper particles to a bonded fiber/cellulose product line whereby the shredded paper particle line forms an in-process production and delivery of shredded paper particles to the bonded fiber/cellulose product line. Moisture is added to the shredded paper particles at the bonded fiber/cellulose product line, and bonded fiber/cellulose insulation products are produced with the bonded fiber/cellulose product line from the diverted portion of shredded paper particles and loose cellulose insulation is produced from shredded paper particles that are not diverted from the shredded paper particle line.

System and method for producing bonded fiber/cellulose products

A system for forming bonded fiber/cellulose products includes a shredded paper particle manufacturing line producing shredded paper particle-based products, such as insulation, a bonded fiber/cellulose product line, and a collector for collecting a portion of the shredded paper particles generated by the shredded paper particle line for the bonded fiber/cellulose product line.

Apparatus and method of recycling finished textile products into reusable fibers. The arrangement includes a confined chamber of diminishing width through which the textile product is moved. The chamber comprises a stationary side with rows of circumferentially arranged teeth separated by circumferentially arranged channels and a rotating side with radially arranged teeth separated by radially extending channels. The product is delivered to the channel where the teeth and the rotating action urge the product into and through the channel while progressively grinding and rendering it into fiber form.

Textile recycling apparatus

An arrangement for forming a fiber web in which fibers are compacted while remaining evenly distributed through the upper and lower surfaces. The arrangement includes a cabinet for receiving opened and blending fibers, and a fiber web forming chute receiving the fibers from the cabinet. The forming chute includes an upper and a lower wall which engage with and assist with the movement of the fibers through and out of the web forming chute. A packing member is positioned adjacent the exit end, engages with and compresses the emerging fiber web to a desired density and height. An air flow system acts to pass a flow of air through the chute from its entrance. The flow of air engages with the fibers during their passage through the chute. The air flow system includes an air removal system which is located in the upper wall and the packing member. The removal system causes the air to exit the web forming chute upwardly, passing through the web. The air flow engages with fibers forming the web, maintaining the various size fibers evenly distributed throughout the web.

Fiber web forming apparatus

A fiber opening device comprising a feed section opening into the fiber opening section. The opening section includes a cabinet with an inner chamber, a waste removal chamber and a fiber web removal unit. The inner chamber includes a doffing roll and a contaminant collecting area located above first and second opening rolls. A main roll is located beneath and between the opening rolls and a waste removal section and a fiber web removal section are located beneath the main roll. In operation, fibers delivered into the inner chamber are first acted on by primarily one of the opening rolls which creates a tumbling action in which contaminants are dislodged and deposited into the contaminant receiving area while other fibers are picked up by the second opening roll carried to and doffed onto the main roll forming a fiber web for delivery to the fiber web removal section.
