The silicone rubber obtained by curing in the presence of a platinum-containing catalyst a composition comprising an organopolysiloxane containing a plurality of lower alkenyl radicals and a organohydrogensiloxane consisting essentially of R.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 units, R.sub.2 SiO units, RHSiO units, and RSiO.sub.3/2 units in a specified molar ratio is uniquely suitable as the coating material for the press roll in the fixing assembly of an electrophotographic copier.

A method of preparing a silicone elastomer coated cloth having a surface coating of silicone resin is described. The coated cloth is elastic and pliable with a surface which has superior dirt resistance. The cloth is first coated with an addition-reaction-curing silicone elastomer composition which uses a platinum system catalyst or with an organic peroxide-curing silicone elastomer composition. The uncured elastomer layer is then coated with a silicone resin composition of the addition-reaction-curing type which uses a platinum system catalyst and has a molar ratio of organic groups to silicon atoms of 0.8 to 1.8. The silicone elastomer composition layer and the silicone resin composition layer are then heat cured simultaneously.

What is disclosed is a method of compatibilizing natural or synthetic organic rubber with silicone rubber in order to enhance the properties of the final rubber product. The method consists of compounding silicone rubber with natural and/or synthetic organic rubber in the presence of an additional organopolysiloxane having long chain carbon substituents attached to the silicon atoms.
