Vibrations of a hydraulic pressure in an upstream portion due to operations of a slip control device during anti-lock control are transmitted to a control pressure chamber via a pressurizing piston of a master cylinder and a control piston of a regulator. During anti-lock control, in contrast, a pressure-increase linear valve and a pressure-reduction linear valve are opened, allowing change in volume of the control pressure chamber, resulting in reduction in stiffness. This reduction suppresses vibrations of a hydraulic pressure in the control pressure chamber, resulting in suppression of vibrations of a hydraulic pressure in a front pressure chamber. As a result, it is possible to reduce the lowering in control accuracy for a hydraulic pressure in a brake cylinder in anti-lock control using the hydraulic pressure in the front pressure chamber, which can well avoid a long braking distance.

Hydraulic braking system

The brake controller includes a friction brake device, a regeneration brake device, a required braking force calculating portion, a vehicle motion control portion which distributes the required braking force to the non-regeneration braking side right/left wheels that is either one of the right/left front wheels and right/left rear wheels, a maximum braking force calculating portion which calculates the maximum braking force at each wheel and a braking force control portion-which calculates the regeneration braking force generated at the regeneration braking side right/left wheels within a range where the regeneration braking force to be generated at the regeneration braking side right/left wheels does not exceed a smaller value of the maximum braking forces of the regeneration braking side right/left wheels, based on the required braking force and the distribution of the braking force to the non-regeneration braking side right/left wheels.

Brake controller

The braking control device for controlling a master cylinder device includes a housing, an output piston, an input piston, a separation chamber opening and closing portion, and a driving hydraulic pressure generating portion, and is provided with an operation control for controlling the master cylinder device in an operation force operating state (regulator mode) in which the output piston is driven by operation force on a brake operation member and in a driving hydraulic pressure operating state (linear mode) in which the output piston is driven by driving hydraulic pressure from the driving hydraulic pressure generating portion; a brake operation judgment portion for judging the presence or absence of a brake operation and the probability thereof and a state transition limiter for limiting at least one of state transitions between the operating states when the presence of the brake operation and possibility thereof is determined.

Braking control device

A vehicle brake device is provided with a master cylinder, a master piston slidably arranged in the master cylinder, an input piston slidably arranged in the master cylinder to be separated from the master piston and defining a separation chamber, an input piston moving amount detecting section for detecting the moving amount of the input piston, a master piston moving amount calculating section for calculating the moving amount of the master piston based on the moving amount of the input piston, and a contact inferring section for inferring the contact of the input piston with the master piston based on the moving amount of the input piston and the moving amount of the master piston.

Vehicle brake device

A vehicle brake system is provided with a hydraulic brake device, a regenerative brake device incorporating a generator motor, and a brake control device. The control device includes a section for calculating a driver target brake force for each wheel corresponding to a manipulation amount of a braking manipulation member, a section for enabling the brake control device itself to set compensation brake forces for respective wheels, a section for selecting a larger one of the driver target brake force and the compensation brake force for each wheel and for subtracting a base hydraulic brake force from the selected brake force to set differences for respective wheels as compensated target brake forces for the wheels, and a section for controlling the distribution of the compensated target brake force for each wheel to a controlled hydraulic brake force for each wheel and a regenerative brake force for each driving wheel.

Vehicle brake system

A vehicle brake system includes a cylinder, a master piston including a pressure applying piston and a projection portion, a servo chamber, a contact/separation determining means determining a separated state and a contact state between the input piston and the master piston, a pilot pressure generating device generating a pilot pressure, a servo pressure generating device, a servo pressure measuring device measuring a servo pressure, and a master pressure estimating means estimating a master pressure from the pilot pressure and a first servo ratio, which is a cross-sectional area ratio between a first pilot chamber and a servo pressure generating chamber, in a case of the separated state, and estimating the master pressure based on the servo pressure, the pilot pressure and a second servo ratio, which is a cross-sectional area ratio between a second pilot chamber and the servo pressure generating chamber, in a case of the contact state.

A vehicle brake device comprises a hydraulic brake device, a regeneration brake device and a brake control device. The brake control device further includes a final value calculating device for calculating the target braking force FR at the time when an ABS control period ended and the cooperative control device restarted the operation to be as a regeneration allowing braking force FH, when the anti-lock brake control device has operated for the ABS control period within one braking operation period where the brake operating member is continuously operated and a regeneration allowing device operable after the ABS control period ended within the one braking operation period and after the cooperative control device restarted the operation and allowing the generation of the regeneration braking force FE only when the target braking force is less than a value of the regeneration allowing braking force FH.

Vehicle brake system comprises a hydraulic brake device, a regenerative brake device to drive wheels driven by a generator-motor and a brake control device for cooperatively controlling the hydraulic brake force and the regenerative brake force in response to an operation amount of a brake operation member. This vehicle brake system further includes a differential amount calculating portion calculating a differential amount by subtracting a regeneration execution brake force obtained by execution of the generator-motor from a regeneration request brake force, a regenerative range judging portion for judging whether the regeneration request brake force is within a range of a re-generable brake force which is executable by the generator-motor and a hydraulic pressure restricting portion for restricting increase of the hydraulic brake force when the differential amount is a positive value and the regeneration request brake force is within the range of the re-generable brake force.

A method and apparatus for controlling a vehicle involves determining if the vehicle is swaying and if the vehicle is swaying, reducing a torque of an engine of the vehicle and/or applying independent braking forces to each wheel of the vehicle. A vehicle for controlling vehicle sway includes an engine, a plurality of wheels, a braking system configured to apply independent braking forces to each wheel, and a controller configured to control the engine and the braking system. The controller is configured to determine a correlation coefficient in accordance with any phase shift occurring between a yaw acceleration signal and a lateral acceleration signal. The correlation coefficient is compared to a threshold value to determine whether the vehicle is swaying. If the vehicle is swaying, the controller causes a torque of the engine to be reduced and/or braking forces to be applied independently to each wheel.

Method and apparatus for vehicle sway detection and reduction

A method of controlling a vehicle involves determining if the vehicle is swaying (e.g., if a trailer being towed by the vehicle is exerting a sway force on the vehicle), and if the vehicle is swaying, reducing a torque of an engine of the vehicle and applying independent braking forces to each wheel of the vehicle. A vehicle for controlling vehicle sway includes an engine, a plurality of wheels, a braking system configured to apply independent braking forces to each wheel, and a controller configured to control the engine and the braking system. The controller is configured to determine if the vehicle is swaying (e.g., if a trailer being towed by the vehicle is exerting a sway force on the vehicle), and if the vehicle is swaying, reducing a torque of the engine and applying independent braking forces to each wheel.

This apparatus is applied to a vehicle brake apparatus provided with a hydraulic booster operated by utilizing an accumulator hydraulic pressure that is adjusted to a predetermined high pressure (not less than a lower limit value) by a drive control of a hydraulic pump. This apparatus executes an automatic pressurization control by controlling plural solenoid valves with the use of the accumulator hydraulic pressure. The increasing slope of the brake hydraulic pressure during the automatic pressurization control is determined on the basis of the vehicle motion state. The increasing slope is restricted to be not more than a predetermined restriction value, in the case where the accumulator hydraulic pressure at the time of starting the automatic pressurization control is less than 'a reference hydraulic pressure that is greater than a minimum value of the accumulator hydraulic pressure necessary for assisting the brake operation by the hydraulic booster and smaller than the lower limit value'.

Vehicle motion control apparatus

A brake control device for a vehicle controls a vehicle wheel by supplying a hydraulic pressure generated by a hydraulic pressure generating device to a wheel brake cylinder of the vehicle wheel when a brake operating member is not being operated. When the brake operating member is operated while the hydraulic pressure has been supplied to the wheel brake cylinder for the vehicle wheel, a hydraulic pressure control valve device for the other vehicle wheel is controlled for supplying the hydraulic pressure to a wheel brake cylinder for the other vehicle wheel. Therefore, the hydraulic pressure is supplied to the wheel brake cylinder for the other vehicle wheel as well.

Brake control device for a vehicle

The vehicle motion control system includes an automatic hydraulic pressure generator generating a hydraulic pressure irrespective of a brake pedal operation and a hydraulic pressure control valve adjusting the hydraulic brake pressure by opening or blocking a connection between the automatic hydraulic pressure generator and a wheel brake cylinder. The system includes vacuum pressure detecting means to adjust the hydraulic brake pressure in a appropriate condition. In response to the vacuum pressure detecting means, vehicle motion is controlled in the direction that the vehicle motion control is restricted under the vacuum pressure which drives said vacuum booster is relatively small. Also, the duration of the hydraulic brake pressure increase is controlled in the direction longer under the vacuum pressure which drives said vacuum booster is relatively small.

Vehicle motion control system

A vehicle motion control device reduces noise resulting from operation of a vacuum booster when an automatic pressure control is performed by properly controlling the energization of a linear solenoid of a booster actuator. An automatic hydraulic pressure generator is controlled in accordance with the vehicle motion condition and a hydraulic pressure control valve device is controlled to perform the automatic pressure control. A target electric current of the linear solenoid for actuating the vacuum booster is instantaneously increased to a starting target value which corresponds to an electric current value immediately before starting the operation of the vacuum booster and which is less than a maximum value of the target electric current, and then is gradually increased approximately to the maximum value of the target electric current.
