In an intake structure of an internal combustion engine, on an intake upstream side from a valve seat of an intake port, a convex portion is provided which protrudes to an inside of the intake port in a place near an outer circumferential portion of a cylinder chamber when viewed from an upper side of the cylinder chamber. The convex portion includes an upstream guide surface extending from an apex of the convex portion to the intake upstream side, and a downstream guide surface extending from the apex to an intake downstream side and including a curved surface recessed inside the convex portion at a middle portion thereof.

Gasket

A cylinder head containing an exhaust system manifold for an engine includes screw holes formed through a fastening face of the cylinder head and an exhaust pipe, and outlet cooling channels that are provided adjacent to an outlet of a confluence of the manifold, and are disposed between the screw holes and the outlet. Coolant flows through the outlet cooling channels.

Cylinder head for vehicle engine

A cam structure driving a tappet having a crowning on a top face and connected to a base end section of an intake or exhaust valve of an engine, includes: a camshaft rotating in synchronization with a crankshaft of the engine; a cam lobe mounted on the camshaft, and including: a base cam including: a base circular section having a mounting hole for the camshaft; and a valve lift section having a cut-out section in a tip end portion; and a roller provided in the cut-out section and having a cylindrical section with a constant diameter. A center section in a width direction of the base cam makes contact with the tappet at a position deviated from a center of the top face of the tappet, and the cylindrical section makes contact with the center of the top face of the tappet.

Cam structure

A rocker arm supported by a support portion of an engine and to be driven by a cam includes a sheet-metal rocker arm body manufactured by plastic working and including a cam follower, a fulcrum portion manufactured by cutting and including a through hole supplying lubricant, and a lubricant discharging hole. The cam follower includes a first slide-contact surface being in sliding contact with the cam. The lubricant discharging hole is defined by an outer surface of the fulcrum portion and an outer surface of the sheet-metal rocker arm body and in communication with the through hole. The lubricant discharging hole biases the lubricant supplied from the through hole in a direction toward the first slide-contact surface.

Rocker arm

A variable valve mechanism for an engine includes: a rocker shaft; a first rocker arm rotatably supported by the rocker shaft, for transmitting displacement of a first cam to a valve; a second rocker arm rotatably supported by the rocker shaft, for transmitting a displacement of a second cam to the valve; and a switching mechanism for switching a transmitting state and a non-transmitting state. The first rocker arm has a pair of first arm portions and a recess portion in which an upper end of the valve is inserted at an end portion of each of the first arm portions. The second rocker arm has a second arm portion disposed between the first arm portions. The first rocker arm is restricted from movement in an axis direction of the rocker shaft when an inner sidewall of the recess portion is in contact with the upper end of the valve. The second rocker arm is restricted from movement in the axis direction when the second arm portion is in contact with the first rocker arm.

Variable valve mechanism for engine

A cylinder block has a cast cylinder liner. A different level portion with a predetermined width is provided in a projected part formed along the lower end-face of the cylinder liner, in the centrifugal direction of the cylinder liner. In this case, the different level portion has a width corresponding to the dimensional tolerance range with respect to a finished inside diameter dimension position, and a outer circumference edge of the different level portion is provided in the outer circumference side farther than the finished inside diameter dimension position. Displacement of a hole is detected by checking the different level portion after machining the internal circumference of the cylinder liner.

A crankshaft support structure of an internal combustion engine, comprising a crankshaft having journal portions a saddle-shaped bearing caps respectively mounted on an undersurfaces of the journal support bases formed in a lower portion of the cylinder block in such a manner as to straddle the journal portions being accommodated in the bearing portions, whereby the journal portions are rotatably supported wherein, of the undersurface of each of the journal support bases, an undersurface portion overlapping with an edge portion of each of end faces on both sides of each of the bearing caps is formed to be a thick portion thicker than other portions, and a mount surface to be positioned on the undersurface overlapping with the thick portion of each of the bearing caps is formed along the thick portion.
