The lubricating oil composition of the invention comprises a lubricating base oil with a 100&#xb0; C. kinematic viscosity of 1-20 mm/s, (A) a friction modifier, (B) a first overbased metal salt obtained by overbasing an oil-soluble metal salt with an alkaline earth metal borate, and (C) an overbased second oil-soluble metal salt obtained by overbasing an oil-soluble metal salt with an alkaline earth metal carbonate.

Lubricant oil composition

The present invention provides a lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines which can reduce sufficiently the friction under mixed lubricating conditions and is excellent in fuel saving properties. The lubricating oil composition comprises (A) a base oil having a 100&#xb0; C. kinematic viscosity of 2 to 8 mm/s and an aromatic content of 10 percent by mass or less, (B) a metallic detergent having a metal ratio of 1.01 to 3.3 overbased with an alkaline earth metal borate, and (C) an organic molybdenum compound with a molybdenum concentration of 0.01 to 0.2 percent by mass on the basis of the total mass of the composition, and having a 100&#xb0; C. HTHS viscosity of 5.5 mPa&#xb7;s or lower.

Lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engine

The present invention provides a lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine used mainly to drive a generator and to improve the fuel economy thereof. The composition comprises (A) a base oil being a hydrocarbon base oil having a ratio (CA/CB) of the proportion of the component of 24 or fewer carbon atoms (CA) and the proportion of the component of 25 or more carbon atoms (CB) in the carbon number distribution obtained by gas chromatography distillation of 2.0 or higher, the composition having a ratio (Vs/Vk) of the 80&#xb0; C. high-temperature high-shear (HTHS) viscosity (Vk) and the 150&#xb0; C. HTHS viscosity (Vs) of 0.4 or higher and a 100&#xb0; C. kinematic viscosity of 5.2 mm/s or higher and 8 mm/s or lower.

Lubricating oil composition

A lubricant oil composition according to the present invention comprises: a lubricant base oil whose kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. is 1 to 20 mm/s; and a viscosity index improver in which a ratio M1a/M2a of a total area M1a of peaks in a chemical shift between 29-31 ppm to a total area M2a of peaks in a chemical shift between 64-69 ppm based on a total area of all the peaks is not less than 10 in a spectrum obtained byC-NMR.

The lubricating oil composition of the invention comprises a lubricating base oil with a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 1-20 mm/s, and a viscosity index improver having a ratio M/Mof 0.20 or greater, between the total area of the peaks between chemical shifts of 36-38 ppm Mand the total area of the peaks between chemical shifts of 64-66 ppm M, with respect to the total area of all of the peaks, in the spectrum obtained byC-NMR. The lubricating oil composition of the invention has excellent effects, with a sufficiently high HTHS viscosity at 150&#xb0; C., and a sufficiently low kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C., a sufficiently low kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. and a sufficiently low HTHS viscosity at 100&#xb0; C.

Lubricant oil composition and method for making the same

The lubricating oil composition of the invention includes a lubricating base oil with a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. of 1-6 mm/s, a % Cof 70 or greater and a % Cof no greater than 2, and a viscosity index improver which, when added to the lubricating base oil, results in an A/B ratio of less than 3.2 and a C/B ratio of less than 1.5. A lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine. The lubricating oil composition includes: (A1) a lubricant base oil as a main component having a kinematic viscosity at 100 degree C. being 1 to 8 mm/s, pour point being &#x2212;15 degree C. or less, aniline point being 100 degree C. or more, paraffinic content in saturates being 40 mass % or more, monocyclic naphthenic content being 25 mass % or less, bicyclic to hexacyclic naphthenic content being 35 mass % or less, iodine number being 2 or less, and ratio of tertiary carbon to the total carbon atoms composing the (A1) being 6.3% or more. The total mass of the composition is: (B) 0.005 to 0.5 mass % of a metallic detergent as metal content; (C1) 0.005 to 0.2 mass % of a boron-containing succinimide ashless dispersant as boron content; and (D) 0.005 to 0.2 mass % of a metal salt of phosphorus-containing acid as phosphorus content.

The present invention provides a low ash engine oil composition which, despite the low ash content, has engine detergency which enables the composition to pass severe detergency tests for diesel engine oils. The engine oil composition contains 0.6 percent by mass or less of a sulfated ash and comprises a low ash engine oil composition with a sulfated ash content of 0.6 percent by mass or less, which comprises: a lubricating base oil with a % Cof 2 or less, a kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C. of 25 mm/s or less and a viscosity index of 120 or greater; a viscosity index improver contained in such an amount that the viscosity index of the composition will be 160 or greater; (A) a metallic detergent with a metal ratio of 3 or less; and/or (B) a sulfur-free phosphorus compound.

The invention provides a lubricating base oil with a saturated component content of 90% by mass or greater, a proportion of cyclic saturated components of no greater than 40% by mass of the saturated components, a viscosity index of 110 or greater, an aniline point of 106 or greater and an &#x3b5;-methylene proportion of 14-20% of the total constituent carbons, as well as a lubricating oil composition comprising the lubricating base oil.
