A method for distributing advertisement data to display terminal devices from a distribution server via a relay server. The relay server receives status notifications of the display terminal devices and transmits a tenor of receipt of the status notifications to the display terminal devices. The distribution server receiving status notifications and transmits the tenor of receipt of the status notifications to the relay server. The distribution server determines whether the reproduction schedule of the advertisement data has been changed and transmits a notification on a change. If the distribution server receives a request for acquisition of the as-changed reproduction schedule, the distribution server sends the as-changed reproduction schedule to the relay server. If the relay server determines that the reproduction schedule acquired from the distribution server has been changed, the relay server transmits the notification on the change of the reproduction schedule.

A data processing system includes a distributing device that distributes edited advertisement data and display terminal devices that display the edited advertisement data distributed to a first place in a predetermined territory. The display terminal devices are each provided with a first reader/writer configured to read out from and/or write in an IC card having stored memory identification data. The data processing system also includes a second reader/writer configured to read out from and/or write in an IC card. The data processing system also includes a hysteresis management device that manages hysteresis data HD, HDfrom the first reader/writer, correlated with the memory identification data, and hysteresis data HDfrom the second reader/writer, correlated with the memory identification data. The data processing system further includes a hysteresis analysis device that correlates the hysteresis data HD, HDfor each of the memory identification data to generate analysis data.

A movement made by a user viewing a television broadcast program, which is recorded on a hard disk device and read from the hard disk device to enable time shift viewing, is reproduced at a television (TV) set. The movement of the user is detected via a transmitting and receiving unit to which an electronic key card is held, and a reproduction position on a hard disk is recorded in a memory of a controlling apparatus main unit. A destination of the user is detected via a transmitting and receiving unit to which the electronic key card is held, and the broadcast signal is read from the stored reproduction position on the hard disk and then transferred to an electronic device at the destination. This enables a continuation of the broadcast program that was viewed to be viewed in a room at the destination.

An infrared communication system is disclosed, that has a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter includes a modulator, a first converter, an infrared transmission section. The modulator modulates a first electric signal and generates a second signal as a modulated signal. The first converter converts the second signal into an infrared signal. The infrared transmission section transmits the infrared signal to the receiver. The receiver includes a filter, a second converter, and a demodulator. The filter restrains rays having a spectrum whose peak is present at a predetermined wavelength emitted by a plasma display panel. The second converter converts the infrared signal passed through the filter into a third electric signal. The demodulator demodulates the third electric signal.

For each dwelling unit, a registered agent likewise uses the IC card to send family identification information or agent identification information to a door phone apparatus, thereby unlocking the door lock of the entrance for a family member.

A method of transfer of a pre-recorded video program. Specifically, one embodiment of the present invention discloses a method for the automatic transfer of a pre-recorded video program from a digital video recorder (DVR) to a video cassette recorder (VCR). A user selects a pre-recorded video program and assigns an associated transfer period that includes a transfer date, record start time, and a record stop time. The associated transfer period associated with a selected pre-recorded program is entered as a record in a list of transfer records on the DVR. At the appointed associated transfer period, the DVR automatically sends a command to power on a remotely coupled VCR and begin recording. The DVR then transfers the selected video program to the VCR. The DVR can recognize timing conflicts between two transfer records and prompts a user to edit one of the conflicting records to avoid the timing conflict.

Method and apparatus for automatic transfer of a pre-recorded video program to a video cassette recorder

At a time of a movement made by a user viewing a television broadcast program, which is recorded on a hard disk device and read from the hard disk device to enable time shift viewing, and is reproduced at a TV set, the movement of the user is detected via a transmitting and receiving unit to which an electronic key card is held, and a reproduction position on a hard disk is recorded in a memory of a controlling apparatus main unit. A destination of the user is detected via a transmitting and receiving unit to which the electronic key card is held, and the broadcast signal is read from the stored reproduction position on the hard disk and then transferred to an electronic device at the destination, thereby enabling a continuation of the broadcast program that was viewed to be viewed in a room at the destination.

A central access control system creates distribution CDs using an embedded data encryption process. A disc ID is also encrypted and recorded on each disc of each set of distribution CDs. The central access control system records the disc IDs and a remote location access rights list (ARL). A list of unique remote location IDs are also stored. The distribution CDs are delivered to one or more remote locations equipped with an information access system that includes its unique remote location ID a CD reader with an embedded decryption system, and a communication link to the central access control system. The information access system can send the disc ID and its unique remote location ID as an access request to the central access control system. If the access control system is able to verify and grant the request, a unique decryption key will be sent to access the particular distribution CD currently contained in the information access system. The unique remote location ID of each information access system is a public encryption key and the central access control system encrypts the distribution CD's decryption key using the requesting information access system's public key. If the central access control system is unable to verify or grant the request, an attempted security breach alert is triggered.
