A multi-channel audio system is constituted using at least one line array speaker unit, in which plural speakers are arrayed in line, wherein the same audio signal is supplied with a prescribed delay time to each of the speakers, thus forming plural sound beams. The plural sound beams are reflected on a wall surface and a ceiling of a room so as to form plural virtual sound sources surrounding a listening position, and emission directions and intensities of the sound beams are controlled so as to localize a phantom at a prescribed position based on the plural virtual sound sources. By appropriately arranging plural line array speaker units horizontally, vertically, and slantingly in such a way that each line array speaker unit forms sound beams distributed and spread in a sectorial form, it is possible to realize a surround audio system having a high degree of freedom with regard to setup positions for forming virtual sound sources.

A visible image is formed on an optical disk by using an optical disk recording apparatus that forms a pit with a length defined by recording data (EFM-modulated data) by applying a laser beam onto the optical disk. At least a part of the recording data are replaced with the visible image forming data to generate the recording data containing visible image forming data. When the recording data containing the visible image forming data are recorded on the optical disk, the visible image forming data are extracted from the recording data to act as a gate signal. The visible image is formed by forming a pit defined by the recording data in an area of the gate signal.

An irradiating position of the laser beam is controlled relative to the optical disk by fixing the laser beam in the radial direction of the optical disk during one rotation of the optical disk, and shifting the irradiating position of the laser beam by a first distance in the radial direction each time one rotation of the optical disk is detected. The optical pickup is fed in the radial direction by a second distance the optical disk has rotated a predetermined number of rotations.

Optical recording apparatus with drawing capability of visible image on disk face

A visible image forming method is performed for forming a visible image on an optical disk by an optical disk recording apparatus, which is designed for applying a laser beam onto an optical disk according to first recording data of a predetermined format to form pits having lengths specified by the first recording data. First, a generating step is performed for generating second recording data by embedding image formation data of a visible image in a part of a predetermined format which is the same as predetermined for the first recording data. Second, an extracting step is performed for extracting the image formation data of the visible image from the second recording data of the predetermined format. Then, a forming step is performed for forming pits in the optical disk according to the extracted image formation data so as to form the visible image on the optical disk.

Method, program and system of forming visual image on optical disk

A method is designed for recording contents information along a track of an optical disk of a writeable type. A volume detection step is carried out for detecting an actual volume of the contents information to be recorded into the optical disk. A capacity detection step is carried out for detecting a nominal capacity of the optical disk, which indicates a rated volume of information to be recorded at maximum. A density determination step is carried out for determining a recording density of the contents information based on the detected actual volume and the detected nominal capacity. A recording step is carried out for recording the contents information into the optical disk at the determined recording density such that the actual volume of the contents information can fit into the nominal capacity of the optical disk.

Method of recording information on optical disks at a recording density proportional to the actual information volume and disk nominal capacity

An optical disk apparatus records information by irradiating a laser beam from a pickup onto an optical disk. A scanning section scans the laser beam relative to the optical disk. A recording control section controls the scanning section to effect recording of information. A drawing control section is provided for controlling the pickup and the scanning section to effect drawing of a visible image on the optical disk according to image information, such that the laser beam is changed between a first intensity incapable of acting on the optical disk and a second intensity capable of acting on the optical disk. A servo section periodically detects the laser beam reflected back from the optical disk when the laser beam has the first intensity, and servo-controls the irradiating of the laser beam during the drawing of the visible image based on the detection of the laser beam. The drawing control section controls the pickup for forcibly changing the laser beam to the first intensity from the second intensity when the second intensity is maintained over a predetermined period pursuant to the image information, thereby enabling the servo section to detect the laser beam having the first intensity for continuing the servo-control.

A method is designed for recording contents information along a track of an optical disk of a writeable type. A volume detection step is carried out for detecting an actual volume of the contents information to be recorded into the optical disk. A capacity detection step is carried out for detecting a nominal capacity of the optical disk, which indicates a rated volume of information to be recorded at maximum. A record step is carried out for recording the contents information into the optical disk at the determined recording density such that the actual volume of the contents information can fit into the nominal capacity of the optical disk.

Optical disk apparatus for recording information at a recording density proportional to the actual information volume and disk nominal capacity

An optical disk recording apparatus operates on an optical disk having circular tracks which are provisionally written with an index signal used for securing a constant linear velocity of the optical disk from an innermost circular track to an outermost circular track, and records data along the circular tracks at different linear densities on different annular zones of the optical disk. In the apparatus, a disk drive section rotates the optical disk while synchronizing the index signal successively read from the rotated optical disk with a predetermined reference clock signal to thereby maintain the constant linear velocity of the circular tracks. A clock generating section multiples or divides the reference clock signal by different rates to generate different writing clock signals in correspondence to the different annular zones of the optical disk. A data recording section operates in synchronization to the different writing clock signals for recording data along the circular tracks at the different linear densities on the different annular zones.

Optical disk recorder for writing data with variable density

In an optical recording apparatus having an optical pickup, a rotating section is provided for rotating an optical disk which is formed thereon with a guide groove to define a spiral track having a plurality of rounds. The optical pickup has a light source for generating an optical beam and a diffractive grating for diffracting the optical beam to form a main beam and a pair of sub beams opposite with each other relative to the main beam. The optical pickup is operable for irradiating the main beam to the spiral track with accompanying the pair of the sub beams along apposite sides of the spiral track. A servo section operates the optical pickup to enable the main beam to trace the spiral track based on a tracking error signal derived from return lights of the sub beams reflected back from the optical disk. A recording section modulates the main beam for recording of information onto the spiral track while the optical dick is rotated. A control section controls recording of information each cycle the optical disk is rotated such that the recording of information is enabled to fill one round of the spiral track and disabled to blank another round of the spiral track so as to alternate the filled rounds and the blanked rounds.

An integrated circuit device is comprised of an input interface, a PLL unit, a processing unit and an output interface. The input interface operates in response to an external clock signal for sequentially receiving input data in synchronization with an external synchro signal. The PLL unit includes an internal clock source operative in phase-locked manner according to the external synchro signal for generating an internal clock signal which is faster than the external clock signal. The processing unit operates in response to the internal clock signal for sequentially processing the input data. The output interface operates in response to the external synchro signal for sequentially outputting the processed data in synchronization with the external synchro signal.

An optical disk recording device capable of recording data by projecting, laser pulse on a disk such as a CD-WO disk on which time information such as ATIP data or address information used for writing is previously recorded while controlling drive of a spindle for rotating the disk by using the information for writing includes a synchronizing signal detection circuit for detecting a synchronizing signal such as an ATIP synchronizing signal from a signal read from the disk, a clock generation circuit for generating a clock from the read out signal by locking PLL (phase lock loop), a counter for counting the clock generated by the clock generation circuit during a period between respective synchronizing signals detected by the synchronizing signal detection circuit, and a slip detection circuit for detecting a slip in the PLL of the clock generation circuit when a count of the counter differs from a predetermined value. A difference between the time information or address information and recorded data on the disk can be detected in real time, so that a proper processing such as stopping of recording can be made immediately upon detection of the slip in the PLL.

EFM input signal is received via an EFM input interface. Recording-timing adjustment data is received via a computer interface from a computer and stored in a register. To obtain EFM output signal having its pulse duration controlled on the basis of the EFM input signal and the record-timing adjustment data, there are further provided a clock signal generation circuit for generating clock signal by a phase-locked-loop arrangement based on a crystal oscillator, a first pair of counter and comparator driven by the clock signal to determine the pulse duration of a signal to be written, a second pair of counter and comparator that is driven by the clock signal and responsive to the output from the comparator of the first pair to start counting so as to determine a pulse duration to be adjusted, and a flip flop that is reset by the output from the comparator to provide an EFM output signal having a controlled pulse duration.

A digital filter performs a predetermined arithmetic operation on input digital data inputted thereto in time-series manner by the predetermined first sampling period to thereby generate output digital data corresponding to a second sampling frequency which is N (where N denotes an integral number) times larger than the predetermined first sampling frequency. This digital filter provides a synchronizing signal generating circuit and an operation control circuit. The synchronizing signal generating circuit detects the predetermined first sampling period of the input digital data to thereby generate a synchronizing signal having the second sampling frequency. The operation control circuit is activated by its internal clock which is asynchronous with the input digital data. This operation control circuit starts to perform its operation processes when the synchronizing signal is supplied thereto, thereafter it terminates the operation processes when a predetermined step number is completed.

Digital filter capable of sample rate alteration

A digital filter of an FIR (non-recursive) type operating as an oversampling filter in digital signal processing such as for a stereophonic audio device comprises a memory storing impulse response coefficient data, a mantissa data producing circuit for converting the coefficient data to mantissa data, a multiplier for multiplying input data with the mantissa data, an accumulator for accumulating output data of the multiplier, and a bit-shifting circuit for bit-shifting accumulated output data of the accumulator by the number of bits substantially corresponding to the change in the number of bits of exponent data in the coefficient data. The mantissa data is combined with input data in the convolution operation and the exponent data is imparted, in accumulation of multiplied values, by the bit-shifting of the accumulation output data. In one aspect of the invention, the bit-shifting is performed in a decreasing direction starting from the coefficient of the smallest exponent.
