In a variable valve timing controlling apparatus for an internal combustion engine having an engine valve, the controlling apparatus having:a rotational body rotated in synchronization with an engine crankshaft;a camshaft, one end thereof being inserted into the rotational body and the camshaft including a cam located on an outer periphery of the camshaft to open the engine valve against a spring force exerted by a valve spring of the engine valve; a phase changing device interposed between the rotational body and the one end of the camshaft to hydraulically vary a relative rotational phase between the rotational body and the camshaft; and a hydraulic pressure circuit to relatively supply and drain a hydraulic pressure to and from at least one retardation angle hydraulic pressure chamber and at least one advance angle hydraulic pressure chamber, each hydraulic pressure chamber being formed within the rotational body to drive the cam phase changing device, an interrupting mechanism is provided to interrupt a hydraulic pressure passage of the hydraulic pressure circuit to supply the hydraulic pressure to at least one of the advance angle and retardation angle hydraulic pressure chambers for a time duration which corresponds to a torque peak region of a rotation variation torque developed on the camshaft.

Variable valve timing controlling apparatus for internal combustion engine

A decompression brake device comprises a valve drive mechanism for driving an exhaust valve of an internal combustion engine. The valve drive mechanism has first, second and third conditions, the first condition being a condition wherein the exhaust valve assumes a fully closed rest position during intake, compression and expansion strokes of the engine and a full open position during an exhaust stroke of the engine, the second condition being a condition wherein the exhaust valve assumes the fully closed rest position during the intake stroke of the engine, a slightly open rest position during the compression and expansion strokes of the engine and the full open position during the exhaust stroke of the engine, and the third condition being a condition wherein the exhaust valve assumes the fully closed rest position during the intake stroke of the engine, a largely open rest position during the compression and expansion strokes of the engine and the full open position during the exhaust stroke of the engine. An actuator is used, which has a hydraulically actuated rod which has first, second and third positions to cause the valve drive mechanism to assume the first, second and third conditions respectively. A hydraulic circuit is used for feeding or drawing a pressurized oil to or from the actuator to move the rod to one of the first, second and third positions.

Decompression brake device of automotive internal combustion engine

An oil pump comprises a pump casing, a crankshaft, an inner rotor mounted on the crankshaft, an outer rotor, an intake chamber, and a discharge chamber. The inner rotor has outwardly projecting teeth which engage with inwardly projecting teeth of the outer rotor for rotating the outer rotor for transferring oil from the intake chamber to the discharge chamber. A stopper is provided which contacts edge portions of the teeth of the inner and outer rotors respectively to prevent oil in a space between the teeth from leaking.

Oil pump

A rotor-type oil pump for supplying lubricating oil to an automotive internal combustion engine. The oil pump is comprised of inner and outer rotors which are rotatably disposed inside a pump casing. The inner rotor is formed with an external gear partly in mesh with an internal gear of the outer rotor. The inner rotor is fixedly mounted on a drive shaft forming part of an engine crankshaft and formed at its inner peripheral surface with at least three flat surface portions which are located at equal intervals in the peripheral direction. The at least three flat surface portions of the inner rotor are fittingly contactable respectively with at least three flat surface portions formed at the peripheral surface of the drive shaft, thereby preventing the inner rotor from shifting radially upon receiving a biasing force (due to a pressure differential) directing to an oil inlet chamber side.
