A wristwatch includes a storing unit that stores relational data for predetermined user classifications, such as gender and body height, indicating a relationship between a traveling pitch, which is the number of steps taken by a user per predetermined amount of time, and a traveling speed which is a running speed or a walking speed. A correcting unit corrects the stored relational data based on a set of a measured traveling pitch and a measured traveling speed. A speed calculating unit calculates a traveling speed of the user from a measured traveling pitch of the user based on the stored relational data that correspond to a user classification input by the user and that has been corrected.

An electronic device has a storage unit that stores unit information relating to movement with respect to each of an elevating state and a horizontal movement state and an altitude measurement unit that measures a series of altitudes. An altitude change determination unit determines whether the movement is the elevating state or not using a first determination section having a first altitude range based on a first set of altitudes within the measured series of altitudes, and determines whether the movement is the horizontal movement state or not using a second determination section having a second altitude range smaller than the first altitude range and based on a second set of altitudes within the measured series of altitudes. A movement distance calculator reads from the storage unit the unit information corresponding to the state determined by the determination unit and calculates a movement distance based on the read unit information.

An electronic device includes at least an acquisition unit, an input unit, a time correction amount calculation unit, and a transmitting unit. A timepiece includes at least a receiving unit, a power storage unit, a drive unit, and a control unit. The input unit receives an input of the time displayed by the display unit of the timepiece. The time correction amount calculation unit calculates a time correction amount for correcting the time of the timepiece from a difference between the time, the input of which is received by the input unit and the current time acquired by the acquisition unit. The transmitting unit transmits the time correction amount to the timepiece by using light. The receiving unit receives the time correction amount. The power storage unit stores electricity by using power converted from the light. The drive unit drives the indicating hand. The control unit corrects the time displayed by the indicating hand, based on the time correction amount received by the receiving unit. The control unit controls a power storage period in the power storage unit and a receiving period in the receiving unit so as to receive the time correction amount in the receiving period.

An electronic device includes a solar cell, a secondary battery that is charged by the solar cell, and a control circuit that switches between a charging period during which the charging of the secondary battery from the solar cell is performed and a communication period during which an optical signal is received by the solar cell. The optical signal includes a synchronization signal indicating the transmission of data and the data, and the communication period is configured to detect the synchronization signal. The control circuit extends the communication period to enable the solar cell to receive the whole data included in the optical signal.

A time correction system includes a timepiece, and an electronic device that corrects the time of the timepiece. The electronic device includes a display unit, a time data acquisition unit, a control unit that causes the display unit to display an instruction time of the electronic timepiece, based on the current time, and that calculates a time correction amount from a difference between the current time and the instruction time, and a light source that transmits the time correction amount to the electronic timepiece. The electronic timepiece includes an input unit that receives an operation input for correcting the time displayed by a display unit, a solar cell that receives the time correction amount from the electronic device, and a control circuit that corrects the time displayed by an indicating hand of the display unit, based on the time correction amount.

An electronic apparatus includes a sensor, a body that is provided separately from and is not incorporated to a shoe worn by a user, and a processing circuit provided on the body. The processing circuit obtains, based on a detection result of the sensor, a number of steps taken by the user during traveling while wearing the shoe, and calculates a wear degree, indicating a degree to which the shoe of the user is worn out, based on the number of steps.

An electronic timepiece includes a solar power source, a voltage stabilizer circuit that generates a constant voltage by using power supplied from the solar power source, and a control circuit that clocks the time by driving a rotating body at first hand operation speed and at second hand operation speed which is faster than the first hand operation speed. The control circuit selects a voltage of the solar power source so as to drive the rotating body in a case of the first hand operation speed, and selects at least any one voltage of the constant voltage and the voltage of the solar power source so as to drive the rotating body in a case of the second hand operation speed.

The analysis apparatus includes: a second communication unit that receives the acceleration data from the electronic device; and a control unit that determines whether the swimmer is in a swimming state or the swimmer is in a resting state, based on the acceleration data received by the second communication unit.

There is provided an electronic timepiece that includes a solar panel which receives light to generate electric power, is operated with the electric power supplied from a secondary battery charged with output voltage of the solar panel, and includes a normal mode in which clock display is performed on a display unit and a power saving mode in which clock display on the display unit is stopped, based on illuminance detection of the solar panel, the electronic timepiece including: a mode control unit which switches cycles of the illuminance detection, by setting a cycle of the illuminance detection of the normal mode as a first cycle (for example, one minute), and a cycle of the illuminance detection of the power saving mode as a second cycle (for example, two seconds).

A control circuit selects a drive pulse group corresponding to the detected voltage of a power cell from among plural drive pulse groups each including plural types of main drive pulses, and selects a drive pulse according to the detected condition of rotation of a stepping motor from among main drive pulses included in the selected drive pulse group or a correction drive pulse having larger energy than the main drive pulses. When the control circuit selects a main drive pulse initially by selecting the drive pulse group, the control circuit selects the main drive pulse having the largest energy in the selected drive pulse group. A drive pulse group selection circuit drives the stepping motor by the main drive pulse in the drive pulse group selected by the control circuit or the correction drive pulse via a main drive pulse output circuit and a correction drive pulse output circuit.

A display device includes independently driven common and segment terminals. The common and segment terminals are connected to display components divided into display blocks that are turned ON to perform a display function and are turned OFF so as to not perform the display function. A first driver drives the common terminals using a scanning signal of a predetermined period and a second driver drives the segment terminals using a segment signal synchronized with the scanning signal to correspond to a display signal, so that the display components perform a display corresponding to the display signal. The first driver separates the common terminals into common terminal blocks and drives the common terminals. The first and second drivers perform the driving so that the common and segment terminals which are connected to display blocks that are turned OFF are not supplied with a turn-off signal and are maintained at ground potential.

An electronic timepiece is operated with a power-supply voltage from a secondary battery charged with a voltage from a solar panel. An oscillation circuit generates and supplies a clock signal to a CPU when the voltage charged to the battery is lower than a first voltage. A reset circuit resets the CPU when the voltage charged to the battery does not exceed a second voltage higher than the first voltage, and cancels the reset of the CPU when the voltage charged to the second battery exceeds the second voltage. The CPU starts an operation when the voltage charged to the secondary battery exceeds the second voltage and the reset is cancelled, and performs a time-of-day display on a display unit when the voltage charged to the secondary battery is equal to or higher than a third voltage higher than the second voltage.

A power supply unit has a first power supply circuit that supplies a voltage to a load driving unit and a second power supply circuit that supplies a voltage to circuits other than the load driving unit. A first switching unit connects any one of a power supply that supplies a power supply voltage and a voltage step-down circuit that supplies a step-down voltage of the power supply voltage to the first power supply circuit. A second switching unit connects any one of the power supply and the voltage step-down circuit to the second power supply circuit. A control unit controls the connection by the first switching unit and the connection by the second switching unit to switch the voltage supplied to the first power supply circuit and the voltage supplied to the second power supply circuit in accordance with properties of the load driving unit.
