In an image acquisition device, when capturing an optical image of a sample S through lane scanning, the number of tile images T included in a tile image row R acquired in one lane is counted, and a determination is made as to whether or not the number of images reaches a planned acquisition count that is set in advance. In a case where it is determined that the number of images does not reach the planned acquisition count, lane scanning with respect to the lane is re-executed. Accordingly, even when a loss of the tile images T occurs due to an environment load, the tile images T are complemented by re-execution of the lane scanning, and thus it is possible to prevent the loss of the tile images T in an observation image.

An observation device is an observation device observing an observation target and includes: an emission light source that generates emission light; a projection light source that generates projection light; a scanning mirror that scans the emission light and the projection light toward the observation target along the same optical path; a light guide optical system that guides detection target light generated in the observation target in accordance with emission of the emission light without it passing through the scanning mirror; an optical detector that detects the detection target light guided by the light guide optical system; and a control unit that controls an intensity of the projection light on the basis of a result of the detection of the detection target light.

A step voltage generator for outputting a step voltage from an output terminal. The step voltage generator includes a voltage dividing circuit having a plurality of dividing elements serially connected to each other and disposed between two power sources of different voltage levels for voltage dividing the potential difference between the two power sources. The step generator further includes a switching circuit having a plurality of switch devices serially connected to each other and similarly disposed between the two power sources. The end switch device of the serially connected bunch is connected to the output terminal. A trigger circuit turns on the switch devices sequentially starting with the one closest to the output terminal. A plurality of reverse flow preventive circuits prohibit current through a switch device most recently turned on from flowing through a voltage dividing element previously turned on and which remains on.

Step voltage generator

A wavelength of light emitted from a semiconductor laser is shifted to a shorter wavelength with wavelength converting means and the resulting light of a shorter wavelength is applied to a sample. Upon exposure to the light of the shorter wavelength, the sample emits light of interest and its waveform is measured with measuring means. Fundamental wavelength laser light which passes through the waveform converting means is outputted therefrom in synchronism with the light of a shorter wavelength and detected by a first photodetector. The waveform of the light of interest can be measured correctly on the basis of an output signal from the first photodetector.

Light waveform measuring apparatus

A repetitive voltage signal, such as a sinusoidal wave, is supplied to the anode of a step-recovery diode through an inductor. A variable voltage source is connected to the cathode of the step-recovery diode. Conduction of the step-recovery diode and cut-off of the reverse current flowing through it are repeated with a period identical to the period of the repetitive voltage signal. On account of the abrupt reverse current cut-off characteristic of the step-recovery diode, a voltage is induced in the inductor when the reverse current is cut off, thereby producing an abrupt voltage change at the junction point between the inductor and the step-recovery diode. This abrupt voltage change is converted by differentiation into a short pulse to drive a semiconductor laser diode.

Light source drive device

A stripline is composed of a microchannel plate, and a gold transmission path and grounded electrode formed on both surfaces of the microchannel plate. X-ray images projected onto the transmission path is gated by a pulse voltage applied to and propagating through the stripline. The stripline has such a characteristic impedance profile as decreases toward its output end. This impedance profile compensates for a voltage drop due to the transmission loss which would otherwise appear.

An electron tube, such as a streak tube, is equipped with a gate element for gating unnecessary photoelectrons to prevent them from appearing as a pseudo output signal. A deflection voltage of main deflection plates (typically travelling-wave type) is delayed by a predetermined time and provided to the gate element. The gate element may be shifting deflection plates for sweeping the photoelectrons in a direction perpendicular to the main sweeping direction, a microchannel plate for multiplying the photoelectrons, or a photocathode.

Laser sources produce two light beams which are different in frequency and at least one of which is a pulse beam. The two light beams are subjected to sum frequency mixing in a non-linear optical element and a resultant sum frequency beam is applied to a specimen as an exciting pulse beam. A pulse beam separated from the sum frequency beam and synchronized therewith is detected by a photodetector. A measuring means measures a waveform of fluorescence light emitted from the specimen using an output of the photodetector as a measurement starting reference signal. According to one embodiment, the device operates in a single photon counting mode and the measuring means counts repeatedly an elapsed time from the detection of the measurement start reference signal to the detection of the fluorescence light for every divided section of the elapsed time.
