There is provided a vehicle control system capable of ensuring stability even if an ego vehicle spins slowly. The invention computes a relative slip angle between a leading vehicle and the ego vehicle on the basis of distance between the ego vehicle and the leading vehicle and distance between a traveling-direction virtual line extending from the ego vehicle in a traveling direction and the leading vehicle, sets a spin judgment threshold value according to the relative slip angle, and controls yaw moment to reduce the relative slip angle when the relative slip angle exceeds the spin judgment threshold value.

Provided is a vehicle control system capable of securing stability even in the event of a collision with a travel-path defining line such as a guardrail. In a vehicle control apparatus employing a first speed self-adjustment control system configured to control a speed of a host vehicle based on a first command value, in a manner so as to maintain a distance of the host vehicle from a preceding vehicle or to maintain a set speed, a second speed self-adjustment control system is provided for controlling the host vehicle's speed based on a second command value determined based on information about a lateral acceleration acting on the host vehicle. According to conventional art, if there is an obstacle on the left of a vehicle, a control threshold value is set so as to avoid the obstacle. If the control threshold value is exceeded, the vehicle is controlled in accordance with a deviation quantity so as to return to a position where the control threshold avoids being exceeded. However, even if a risky oncoming vehicle is approaching the vehicle on the right, the vehicle is controllably moved toward the oncoming vehicle. Thus, disadvantageously, a driver has a sense of fear or discomfort. A vehicle control apparatus according to the present invention includes a calculation section configured to calculate a first risk level present on the left of the vehicle and a second risk level present on the right of the vehicle, a setting section configured to set a first control threshold for the left of the vehicle based on the first risk level and to set a second control threshold for the right of the vehicle based on the second risk level, a change section configured to change at least one of the first and second control thresholds based on the first and second risk levels, and a control section configured to control the vehicle based on the changed control threshold.

A vehicle control apparatus includes a first section that recognizes a lane boundary line of a lane in which a vehicle is traveling. A second section recognizes a present position of a predetermined reference point of the vehicle. A third section calculates a predicted position of the reference point, wherein the predicted position is a predetermined interval ahead of the present position. A fourth calculates an imaginary lane boundary line, wherein the imaginary lane boundary line is tangent to the lane boundary line at a point close to the predicted position. A fifth section performs a control of preventing the vehicle from deviating from the lane by controlling the vehicle depending on positional relationship between the vehicle and the lane boundary line. A sixth section selectively permits and suppresses the control depending on positional relationship among the imaginary lane boundary line, the present position, and the predicted position.

A vehicle control apparatus includes an accelerator-state detecting section configured to detect an accelerator manipulating state of a driver; a traveling-path-condition detecting section configured to detect a condition of a traveling path of a host vehicle; a brake control section configured to cause the host vehicle to automatically generate a braking force; and a control unit configured to control the brake control section on the basis of an input from the accelerator-state detecting section. The control unit is configured to actuate the brake control section in a case where the accelerator-state detecting section detects a decrease of a manipulated variable of the accelerator or an off-state of the accelerator and also where the traveling-path-condition detecting section detects a target object for speed reduction on the traveling path.

A steering apparatus includes an axle housing rotatably supporting a wheel hub on which a steered road wheel is installed, and a lower suspension-system control arm adapted to be oscillatingly supported at one end on a vehicle body and having a turning portion provided at the other end for pivotably supporting the axle housing by the turning portion.
