A connector is disclosed having a flat cable connecting portion connected to a flat cable and a flat mating portion mated with another connector. The connector comprises a plurality of terminals arranged on the mating portion for establishing contact with terminals on the other connector, a conductive connecting portion exposed on the cable connecting portion and connected to conductive trace connecting portions on the flat cable, and a plurality of wiring lines extending from the mating portion to the cable connecting portion, each one electrically connecting a terminal to the corresponding conductive trace connecting portion. The conductive connecting portion has a protrusion formed on the wiring lines. The upper surface of the protrusion is substantially the same height as one outer surface of the cable connecting portion.

Connector

A connector characterized in that it: is a connector that has a plurality of plate-shaped terminals that include openings able to enclose protruding terminals of the other half of the connector, and that mates with the other half of the connector. The openings comprise a wide portion, a narrow portion and a transitional portion that transitions from the wide portion to the narrow portion, and, in a top view, are provided with a first shape that is left-right asymmetric with respect to the centerline of the plate-shaped terminals, or a second shape whereby the first shape is inverted about the centerline. The plate-shaped terminals are arrayed lined up in the width direction of the connector, and arrayed such that the plate-shaped terminals comprising an opening having the first shape and the plate-shaped terminals comprising an opening having the second shape alternate.

Low profile connector

Each terminal member of a first connector includes a protruding terminal, and each terminal member of a second connector includes an opening able to accommodate a protruding terminal. The terminal members form a plurality of rows at a fixed interval in the width direction of the main body portion, and each terminal member is staggered in the width direction with respect to the terminal member in the adjacent row. At least the terminal members on the first connector or the second connector are connected to the tip of the plurality of parallel wiring provided in a different layer than the terminal member in the main body portion.

An FPC plug, which fits with another connector, comprises a substrate part, a conductive pattern on the surface of the substrate part, a cable part and a connecting part connected to an end of the cable part. The connecting part includes a protruding terminal engaging a terminal of the other connector. The terminal is formed integrally with, and protrudes from a surface of, the conductive pattern; and includes a base end part connected to the surface of the conductive pattern, an upper end part having a width at most equal to the width of the base end part, and a side surface part between the upper end and base end parts. The side surface part recedes toward the inner side in the width direction more than the base end and upper end parts, and includes a minimal point at which the width is at a minimum.
