Two images to be registered are divided into a plurality of image portions. A standard point for the registration is extracted for each of the image portions divided. Coordinate transformations between two images for the registration are conducted for each image portion by using the standard point extracted. The coordinate values transformed between the image portions are smoothed in the case that they discretely change so that they may be smoothly connected.

Image registration method

A step of changing the frequency of a rotational field for nuclear magnetic resonance measurement of a medical nuclear magnetic resonance imaging apparatus is set to be smaller in a region of interest in a cross-section of an object to be examined than that in regions of less interest. In the less interesting regions of less interest, the spatial sampling interval is made large and an interpolating calculation is performed for the obtained projection data to provide data at the same spatial interval. The image reconstruction can be performed using an ordinary image reconstruction algorithm.

Imaging region-of-interest in medical NMR observation

An apparatus for a detecting the location of incident radiation comprises at least one pair of assembly comprised of a scintillation crystal consisting of a plurality of crystal segments, a pair of photo-multiplier tubes optically coupled to the scintillation crystal so as to be able to detect a scintillation produced in any one of these crystal segments. These plural crystal segments are coupled to each other in such manner that any scintillation produced in any single crystal segment will cause the photo-multiplier tubes to deliver substantially a same output irrespective of the illuminating position within this crystal segment, and also that scintillations produced in the respective crystal segments will cause the photo-multiplier tubes to deliver outputs which are different in level for the respective crystal segments.

Apparatus for detecting the location of incident radiation

An apparatus for measuring concentration of radioactivity in a fluid circulating in a cooling system or a disposal system, etc. of a nuclear power plant (e.g. coolant), the apparatus having a plurality of sampling tubes with different diameters depending on the intensities of radioactivity, and the sampling tubes having valves for switching from one fluid to another fluid. The sampling tubes are connected to the system to a discharge pipe, and are disposed in the proximity of a radiation detector adapted to issue a signal representative of radiation. The issued signal is supplied to a multichannel pulse height analyzer and a data processing system providing an indication of the concentrations of radioactivities for respective radionuclides.
